Any special plans for the New Year? We NEVER go out on New Years Eve, hate the crowds, traffic, crazy drivers, etc. Going to make a nice roast, mashed potatoes, and chill out at home watching whatever is good on TV. Most of the time we don't even make it till midnight! New Years Eve is actually my least favorite holiday. People just seem to try too hard to usher in the New Year and most of the time make fools of themselves. We will enjoy ourselves with our kitties in the safety of our house!

We were supposed to go to an ugly sweater new years party at a friends house but she had to cancel. Her babysitter cancelled on her. She did say we could come over still and play board games and stuff but I am not sure if we will. Maybe we will go to the movies like we did last year while the in laws watch our daughter.

Myself and 2 friends are going to drink wine and get silly at home, just the three of us in our pjs. I love New Years parties as long as they're house parties but I'm pretty excited for this year to be just me and two close friends :)

We hardly ever go out anymore, not because of the traffic, but because it's just nicer for us to spend time together. After all the hustle of Christmas and trying to get everything done, it's nice to spend New Year's Eve just hanging out. We'll rent a bunch of movies and munch our way into the New Year.

I always make this large sandwich for New Year's Eve. I make the bread in the morning so it's cooled down; I make it in a round layer cake pan. Then I split the bread in half horizontally and we fill it with deli meats and cheeses, tomatoes, green pepper slices, whatever we feel like using. Wrap the whole thing in foil and throw it into the oven until the cheeses have melted and the sandwich is warm. We have that with some chilled shrimp (yes, the cats get their share!) and my homemade seafood sauce. And sometimes I'll throw together some potato salad. We don't have dinner, so we sit and munch. The sandwich is kind of a treat because we don't eat a lot of deli meats anymore. Rick's mother gave me the recipe years and years ago and that seems to be our thing now for New Year's Eve.

We don't really do much either.  First, it's very difficult for me to stay up even to midnight.  And, don't really enjoy big crowds or loud parties at all; I don't really drink so being around a lot of drunk people not really entertaining to me.  We both like to keep it close to home.

Looking back there was only one year in my entire life that I actually had a fun time on New Year's Eve; I was at a famous person's wedding in NYC as he date of one of his cousins. That, was quite something!

So, Tom and I have taken to doing a rather low key night, me making a nice dinner and a movie - either before or after dinner.  Always have some champagne at midnight, and head to bed.  If neither of us are sick.  I can't tell you how many times one of us had the flu or whatever else.

I have my children this year, so we're going to drink sprite with a splash of orange juice and a couple of cherries with syrup, play board games, and watch a child-friendly countdown, if such a thing any longer exists. Apparently MTV is going to show Miley Cyrus riding the NYC ball as it drops. Pass, thanks.

We used to throw big parties on New Year's Eve which were great fun but that was many moons ago.  These days, we usually stay home with kitties, a movie, maybe a glass of champagne and a nice dinner, just hubby and I.

One of our best New Year's Eve was four years ago--my beloved Skittles had passed about three weeks before and we had decided to get kittens.  We ended up picking up Zoe and her brother Rico from the SPCA  late afternoon on New Year's Eve.  We were supposed to go to a party that night but we called to tell them we couldn't make it, we were going to be babysitting new kittens instead.  They thought we were crazy (these folks loved their parties!) but I guarantee we had more fun.

We decided their safe room would be the guest room so we could stay in there with them for the night.  We snuggled up, found a movie on TV, and  laughed our butts off for hours at the antics of two silly new kitties. We hadn't been around kittens since Skittles was young, almost 18 years before, and forgot how crazy they can be.  It was the most fun ringing in of the new year we'd had in years!

I haven't gone out in years! Too crazy.  (Too many drunk people!)  I am working that day, so I'm sure I will be exhausted. I'm cleaning a house that day that on the first initial clean it took me 6 hrs, because of the size & so much stuff to clear on almost every surface!!  Nice, but too much stuff everywhere!!  I am hoping I can get it done between 4 & 5 this time. If no good movies on, I'll probably rent one, & try to stay up.
    LOL!

Maybe I"ll make one of my pizzas!

We were to short to do much for Christmas so going to stay in and celebrate:p  Take out and some beers.  Feed dogs early as many set off fireworks and what not.  We will most likely be asleep before 11.  We are only in 30's lol.

A couple from church is hosting a back yard party with roasting brats on the open fire. It is cold here so I am not sure if I want to go. If I do, I will probably eat my supper at home as the party doesn't start until eight. That is too late for me to eat and rest well when I go to bed.:lol3:

Downtown Denver always has a pretty impressive fireworks display on the 16th Street Mall at both 10 pm and midnight. DW and I normally go to dinner at a downtown restaurant, catch the early show, and get the heck home by midnight.

We are going out to dinner with friends on New Years Eve.  We may watch a movie after dinner and maybe do an early toast.  I am working 7am -5pm on New Years Eve and 7am-3pm New Years Day so I doubt I will stay up until Midnight.  My hubby has New Years day off so he will probably play video games on his computer after I go to bed.

Since we're working as camp hosts over the winter season .. I will be making an awesome black-eyed pea snack to share, and we'll be wagging our boxed wine & champagne to a gathering in our clubhouse enjoying new friends .. and all their snacks

Oh, I just watched Sound of Music the other night--hadn't seen it in years.  Your New Year's Eve sounds perfect!

DH never manages to stay awake till midnight, and I usually have had to hold paws behind the sofa due to all the fireworks here. I don't know how Mogli will react, but I'll stay up with him, probably reading, till the fireworks are over.

We are having a family party at my daughters house, putting up a gazebo in the garden to seat everyone. Gonna have the barbie going and doing bratties and bro in law doing a joint of pork for hot pork baps. Lots of dips and nibbles. Everyone will bring their own booze and chairs. We have all clubbed together and brought a lot of fireworks to let off. We have warned the neighbours so that they can keep any pets indoors. We will be playing lots of games, charades, shot roulette, let's dance. So should be a great night.

Not doing a whole heck of a lot.  Going to SO's house with another 4 couples.  He already ordered everything as far as food and drinks.  I will spend the night there so don't have to drive and anyone else who drinks can stay overnight also.  He has plenty of room.  We could have spent the evening alone but there are times when we just like to be around friends, we'll probably play charades and have a few laughs.  I'm looking forward to it.

Have a safe and happy New Year no matter what you do.

We watched three movies last night and stayed up until 4:00 this morning.

The cats started in around 7:00, so I got up to give them breakfast. But I'm still a little on the pooped side, so I may go back to bed with my Nook until Rick awakens. And then once he's up and about, I'll hit the elliptical....I don't feel like the treadmill this morning, but I know I need to do something.

Our movies: The Heat (I hated it and stopped watching after about 10 minutes), Star Trek Into Darkness (I loved it!), and The Lone Ranger (I liked this one, too).

I am so old.

I fell asleep around 9 then woke up at 1150 cause I knew there would be fireworks.  Then was on net for a bit and after went down and:

.

.

.

CLEANED lol!!!

Went back up watched some tv and could not sleep so went back down to clean some more.  And everyone who passed must have thought we were STILL partying.

So I ended up doing just about all the litter boxes and the blankets they have.  And our towels.

And.  I am only 31.  HA
