My Brave Smokey left me at the age of 15 years n 4 mths ( adopted)

My most benevolent darling Smokey left me rather unexpectedly on 3 rd Dec 2013. She refused to eat during the weekend so I was so worried n helpless then. I found a Renown pet communicator whom happened to be in Singapore on 2 nd Dec. At 9 am that morning Smokey still walked out in the living room lying on her side. I took her basket n placed next to her n was setting up my Viber account as per communicator request. At 10 am my session started, she said she Sensed that Smokey is very Dry n need immediate attention for drips, though Smokey ' told' her that she wants to be at home. I urged communicator to inform Smokey that I Must save her or get her treated coz I will Not wish to see her not having a chance to be saved or died infront of me. Communicator told Smokey, ' u are too dry, u aren't eating. Your mummy will try to save u. You Must Eat. After the session, I went to the living room, Smokey already walked silently into her basket with head down. It was pouring n I had to cover her with her warmer n rushed her to the vet. When the vet attended her, two nurses pulled her hind legs inorder to ' take temperature'. She Struggled n was being forced down. At that moment my heart sank ( feeling as if she is being tortured). I held her upper body/ head tight, kissed her on her head n said ' Smokey if u are in pain, just sleep' . My tears was rolling onto her tiny paw n she Blinked at me. Her temperature was 33.9 degrees n the vet said ' Smokey might Not make it tonight n wanted me to put her to sleep' !!! Ofcoz I Refused n said, she is just dehydrated coz she has been on dry food for 15 years n refused to eat canned food. I stayed at the pet hospital n saw one of the nurse feed her with her kidney diet food. She Ate the whole bowl!! I was so happy n opened her cage n told her ' Smokey Good girl, tomorrow morning you Eat again Mimi will bring you back home Ok?!!'. She didn't make it home alive the next morning when I received miss call n sms from the vet. (Finally I slept Well the night before coz she Ate, I really thought I could discharge her n go home with me). I cannot forget the sight with her eyes n mouth wide open, as if was waiting, Mimi where are u??? The only promised I could make is. Now she is back home with me but in ashes... Here is my dearest cat of my life..

I am so sorry for your loss.  You did all you could do for her.  She is at peace now and free of sickness.

I'm so sorry for your loss. RIP, sweet Smokey. 

Oh Jessika, I'm so sad for you.  Since you can't cry, I'll do it for you. You did do everything you could for her. I just hope that someday soon the happy memories will out weigh your sadness. 

I'm so sorry.  It sounds like your sweet girl was trying to comfort you before she crossed.  

nurseangel , yes you are absolutely right. That's why she is so Brave n Stronger than me, she still didn't want me to worry for her few hours before she crossed. Unless the inturn vet did something to her coz she mentioned Smokey might not make it through n wanted me to put her to sleep which I Refused. This Is the photo I took after she Ate.

susank521 yeah, finally I know how to tag.. don't cry, my tears already almost made Singapore flooded for the past weeks. The only two days that didn't rain were, when Smokey passed away n when I went to collect her ashes back.. She is always so Bright n Sunny cat. I am just a useless human being..

You are not a useless human being.  Your kitty had a long life.  You loved her, cared for her and she obviously loved you.  I know it's hard when a beloved pet passes but it wasn't your fault.

The sun shined, the heavens smiled, because your sweet Smokey had arrived. 

Just remember how much you loved her and she loved you. You looked after her and she looked after you.

She wouldn't do that for just anybody, you know. That alone makes you a pretty important person! 

susank521 , precisely! She will Always wait for me to sleep as I only sleep at wee hours. She will sit n meow at me. Once I am in bed, she will walk to her basket..

Smokey was a beautiful soul, I'm so happy you shared 15 years with her, I'm sure she knew she was well loved. It hurts so bad when they leave us because we loved so much. You have to remember the love she gave to you and the good times, try not to dwell on the parting. Let us share your pain, we all know just how deep that pain can go. It helps to share with others, especially those who know what you are going through. I'll pray fro you and Smokey's beautiful soul, bless you for your love you gave to her. RIP beautiful Smokey!

di and bob thank you so much for your kind advice. Time flies, it's almost 3 weeks n I am still feeling real awful. She is my dearest mate in this world though I have a husband. When he had adultery 3 years ago, it was only Smokey accompanying me. I know she will leave me one day but when the day came, the world is like crashing down. Smokey don't have any toys, she is contented with just a toilet roll...

I'm so sorry for your loss. The pain grows less acute with time, and you'll still have fifteen years' worth of good memories. RIP, Smokey.

Thanks snugglecat and jcat . I really don't know how Long more I am going to cry, though I know Smokey will not see me weeping..

Can someone please tell or share with me, how will a cat looks like when they died? Coz my Smokey died at the animal hospital, I really wonder what was she going through after I left the vet at 7 pm as they do not operate 24 hrs..

No one really knows, but going by the last photo you took of Smokey, she was ready, Jessika. She looked so peaceful, so at rest. Don't worry about that one minute that she died. Think about those great 15 years you got to enjoy with her.

susank521 , I hope she won't be mad at me for not bringing her back. I believe I will go crazy or jump out of a building if she died infront of me. The tees that was covered on her is the tee I wore that morning. I just wants to let her has my smell to accompany her. Anyway she did came back twice. Once as a grasshopper n the other is a yellow moth, same golden yellow color as her ashes. Twice only stayed for 3 days.
