they might just be looking for someone to cuddle with so maybe try to put a stuffed animal in with them or a heated blanket for warmth so it'll be somewhat of a substitution for momma. hope it works out

I don't have experience of such tiny kittens but it does seem likely they are seeking security and comfort.  Are they in a box or basket?  Is it possible to keep them warm and in contact with you more of the time and see if they are quieter then?  At this age I think their mum would usually be with them a lot keeping them warm in between regular feeds.

It may be better for you to have this post in the Pregnant Cats and Kitten Care forum so have flagged for the site Mods to look at.

Make sure they're in a quiet, semi dark place. Put a heating pad on low or a hot water bottle in with them. Kittens that age can't regulate their body temps well and need outside warmth. How often and how much do you feed them? Do you potty them before or after feedings? If you potty after they may still be hungry. I always pottied my 10 day old bottle kitty before feedings. What type of formula are you feeding? It may be too diluted to meet theor nutritional needs which would cause them to get hungry faster.

You had already got excellent advices.  As you see from them, its nothing wrong with you holding them - quite the opposite!   Re the hot water bottle - do of course wrap this bottle in a thick towel, so they get comfortably warmth from it.

Is the stimulating and poo-ing working well?

Do they seem to gain every day?  Best is to weigh them on a electronical scale measuring in grammes, but you knowwing them by heart can probably feel yourself if they do gain their 10+g a day, or not.

You may also burp them after the feedings.  "Shouldnt" be necessary, as cat moms doesnt burp them, but still - it seems sometimes it is necessary to burp them.

Good luck!

The commonest cause of kittens with their mother crying is she is not producing enough milk.  How much do they weigh?  How much to feed depends on that.  And as StefanZ says, are they weeing and pooing OK when you toilet them?  Agree also that you weigh them on a digital scale in grams.  In the UK they are fairly cheap (£10 or so)  in kitchen departments.

It might help if you add what country you are in to your profile, and also tell us what you are feeding them on.  And they should be feed on their tummies as that is the position they feed on their mother in.  I've attached a photo showing day-old kittens feeding.

I know it's been said, but I'd recommend getting a hot water bottle and wrapping it in a towel so they have something warm and soft to snuggle with. I've also heard that putting something that makes a steady noise (like a ticking clock or a metronome) in with the kittens can help them adjust. I've read that the steady ticking sound of a clock helps them because it reminds them of a heartbeat.

When, easiest shortly after they were feed.

How?

There are good description feks in www.kitten-rescue.com.

Or google in handraising kittens, hand rearing kittens and similiar.

Another tip, taugh by our forumite Catwoman707, is to set in their rear end under warm running water.  You hold the kitten in your left hand, and with the right hand, you tap with the forefinger an anus and genitals-area.

Works like a charm, they get washed at the same time,  AND you dont risk irritations as may easily happen if you stimulate with say, a wet cloth,, massaging the tummy and anus-area.

You must of course see there is no draugh where you do it, its nice and comfortable warm, and dry off them thoroughly afterwards.

Specifically: http://www.kitten-rescue.com/pooping_and_peeing.html

It looks to be an excellent website.  This is also worth a read:

http://www.icatcare.org/advice/my-cat-having-kittens/hand-rearing-kittens

It recommends toiletting before feeding as well as after.  It also suggests a lot of crying suggests they are hungry or ill - hungry is my guess.

You also need to weigh them each day at about the same time.  They should gain about 10g most days.  Weighing in grams is much easer than ounces as you don't have to deal with decimal points, and 10 is a nice round easy number to remember.  Far easier than 0.35 ounces!

How long have they not been eating for?

I suggest a trip to the vet. They may need to go on antibiotics. Considering they're so young, they need to be eating. Take both kittens and momma cat to the vet.

Draco is 100% correct.  They need to go to the vet ASAP.  Early treatment will get them healthy quickly and at lower cost, a delay in treatment will likely cost more, and take longer.  And if they aren't eating, this needs to be corrected quickly!

You don't mention the mama cat. Is she looking after the kittens? Trying to feed them? She should still be helping them eliminate too.

1- This is emergency, you must act fast!

2.  Warm up them.  It is not enough there is warm.  Carry them at your chest, or use a warm bottle in a towel

continue soon

You can perk up their energy by  having some glucose on their gum.  Glucose/ dextrose is best, honey or white caro syrup OK, common white sugar works too ubut slower.

 continue

They are already somewhat dehydrated, so next step is water up them.  Easiest perhaps by adding some water to their  kmr-milk.

What kitten replacement milk do you use?

à good adress is www.kitten-rescue.com

look at the parallell thread!

Observe, many vets arent good at saving weak kittens,  so THIS you jmust do by yourself.

What they are good with, if if there are clear symptoms to do something aabout.

Good luck!  *vibes!*

my answer seems to have disappeared.

short, you are in an emergency now, they are going downhill.

1.  Warm up them!  Carry them at your chest or someething!

2.  Perk up their energy by smearign some glucose on their gum, or honey or something with sugar.

3.  Water them up.  Water with some glucose and salt in in the beginning.  Later on with their kmr somewhat watered extra.

vibes!

Oh dear. :( Please make them very, very warm and get them to a vet immediately. I am so sorry but at this point, I think that is your only option. A vet. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: for those babies.

Stefan posted this earlier but wanted to make sure you see it. Please look it over - excellent help in this link. www.kitten-rescue.com
