Hi,
My cat, Mitu, has his litter box in the living room right now. I wouldn't mind it at all but he uses paper pallets ( I tried all kinds and he eats them) so when he steps out of it his paws have pee on them. I let him clean the box ( he is a clean freak:) ) and then I clean his paws myself, but still, around the box theres pee on the carpet. Now I tought of putting the litter box in a small bathroom on the hallway, is this a good idea?
How do I go about moving it? Do I just do it and then show him where it is? I did move it once but still in the living room and he made a fuss about pooping in it until he got over it. Is this a big change? Also, I would try with two boxes, but he did have a second one in a bedroom, he just used it to sleep in it.
Any ideas will help, thank you:)

I would definitely move the box, as well as use a clumping litter, start off with a non clumping first in case, but I have never known a cat to eat the litter other than kittens. (young) It would be well worth trying again.

Especially because you said he is a clean freak, he surely doesn't like having peepee paws.

If you moved it before and he went to the new spot to go, you can move his box into another room.

It might not be a bad idea to gradually move it to where you want to keep it always if you have any doubts that he won't start using it wherever you put it.

A couple/few feet a day.

Also, in my cat room I use pellets. 40lb bag for 5 bucks. Fuel pellets for wood burning stoves. It is just pure sawdust pressed into small pellets, and once wet turns into the sawdust again and can easily be scooped out.

The poop stays and gets scooped.

If regular litter won't work for him, I would use the pellets.

Like I said, he does eat the climping litter, I tried it about a month ago again and same thing, in fact, he eats everything, he has Pica. Ill try to change it and see if he goes there to do it. Thank you

It's going to depend on the cat. I've been lucky. For me, I just move it, show it to them, and that's that. But some cats are not so easily convinced.

It sounds like your kitty is sort of "mid-level" picky about where his litter box is. I might try just moving it a foot at a time until it's where you want it. That's hard if you have stairs to overcome, in which case I might try just moving, showing it, and see how much resistance he puts up. If it's a lot, maybe try 2 boxes, eventually removing the one in the living room.

I can't move it just a little bit at a time, since that would mean I have to move it right in the holway next to the bathroom, but I will try the two boxes again. We'll see how it goes. Thank yoi.
