Chunky, grain-free canned foods?

I recently began feeding my cats an all-wet diet. They did great on pate for about six weeks, when two of the three suddenly decided they just don't care for pate anymore. I don't want to return them to a half dry, half wet diet because it was giving them constipation problems.

I know all three LOVE chunky foods in gravies, but I want to avoid low-quality foods, especially since one of my kitties has IBD and FortiFlora can only do so much to keep it under control. Right now, I'm mixing their pate with dry food just to make sure they're getting enough calories, but this is obviously not ideal.

What are some good, chunky foods that they might like? I found a thread from about a year ago here, and Merrick seemed like it would have a good variety and be in my price range (I just can't afford the super pricey stuff), but it looks like they recently changed their formulas and I'm not sure I want to try them. Are they still good?

Thank you!

Some Merrick varieties are chunky - but like you mentioned their formulation changed so I'm not too sure how they are like now. Wellness has some minced, sliced, and cube entrees I believe. They also have a Weruva-like variety - but from what I remember they are a little carb heavy possibly? It's been a while.

The low carb and grain-free chunky/sliced canned foods that get mentioned here are Tiki Cat chicken varieties, along with Weruva. Both are kinda pricey though. :/ Possibly look into Soulistic? Which I think is either Petco or Petsmart's food made by Weruva.

Wellness has a grain-free cubed chicken variety that I just started feeding my female as she doesn't like the pate much. It's a single protein blend meaning it only contains chicken.  It is available in 3 and 5.5 oz sizes. So far my female is enjoying it enough that I may switch to the cubes over the pate for everyone.

We have Tiki Cat Puka Puka Luau which says it's "Succulent Chicken in Chicken Consomme." I opened a can yesterday and my company thought it looked like tuna. It is like shredded meat in water, not gravy.  Maybe there are other flavors of Tiki Cat that would work, but this one was expensive.  I suspect Weruva makes things they'd like but it's costly too.  I've seen good prices on the Tiki Cat fish but have no experience with it and try to avoid fish.

I don't know why I haven't tried Soulistic.  Maybe my Petco doesn't have it.

It is hard to find a healthy chunked food in gravy. One you may want to try is Nutro Naturals. It comes in minced and sliced along with pate style.

I would try the stew varieties and see how they take to that. Gravies are made of carbs, so that automatically makes it hard to find a good one.

By Nature makes a stew line that is in tiny cubes.

Do check the calories. Stew type food is higher in water content, so the calories are often considerably lower.

Thank you all for the advice! They're not a huge fan of the stews they've tried so far, but I will see what else I can get. The Wellness and Tiki Cat foods sound promising, but I see the Tiki Cat all has fish oil. Does that cause the same bladder problems that fish does?

My guys are just not into pate at all (although I keep on trying). Gotta be chunky. They like MaxCat, duck, turkey, chicken, venison and salmon varieties... I've read the label and it is okay, and less expensive than others. The other one they like is Soulistic (spelling). That is more like shredded protein than chunks.

Alright, I ordered some of the TikiCat, and after my next paycheck, I'll try some of the Soulistic, too. Thank you all again for the advice!
