I did use this on my beautiful male cat.  It made him so nauseous that he quit eating and developed a liver condition.  I fed him by syringes Science Diet patee food pureed with water and antibiotics given by his Vet.  My cat is a beautiful orange 8 year old tabby who used to sit on my lap every night while I knitted and then he slept on a pillow on my bed next to me.

For a week now, he's been in our vet's clinic gettng intravenous fluids and strong antibiotics.  His jaundice is slowly dissipating but he's still very sick and needs to be hand fed with a syringe.  The vet allows me to visit after hours and on the weekend to sit with my cat (Butters) and comfort him, hold him, and feed him.

Today, I found out that all that the Vet and Ihave done may have only prolonged his illness an that hemay die after all.

My word of advice to pet owners.  If you treat your pets lovingly as you do your children, think twice about what you use to get rid of fleas and ticks.  Home remedies such as lemon thyme, borax, routine flea baths may work just as well.  I'm planting more lemon thyme in my gardens and yard next year and will never ever put fle medication on my cats again.

Tearfully I write this.  I am very, very disappointed in this company and angry that my beloved Butters will probably die from using  this product.

By the way, I wrote to PetArmor a few weeks ago to find out what the ingredients were in the product as 93% were unidentified on the packet and STILL have NOT received an answer.

I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this with your boy.
There have been many pets poisoned by these over-the-counter flea medications, and I always strongly advise against using them.

It sounds like your cat developed hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease) from not eating. Cats CAN recover from this, but it takes time.

I know you said its been a week now, and the jaundice is dissipating. This is good news and tells me he is slowly starting to recover. Have you gotten any other signs that he seems to be improving? How much are you syringe feeding him in one day? He should be getting at least 50% (preferably more) of his normal daily caloric intake. Are you using the Hill's A/D canned food?

There are other TCS members who have had cats with fatty liver, and they survived.

Lots of vibes for your orange tabby!

If all that is going on is hepatic lipodosis he can recover.  If there is some other kind of liver shutdown from the flea preventative then recovery could be iffy.  My kitty recovered from hepatic lipodosis but it is a long recovery period.  He stayed in the hospital for close to a week and came home with a feeding tube.  He had been home for close to a week before he started nibbling at food again and it was 3 or 4 weeks before he was eating normally again.

I am so very sorry you are going through this.  It is heartbreaking.  As mentioned above if he just has Hepatic Lipidosis from not eating, he may well recover from this.
