So it hasn't been long since Ella passed away and I just couldn't get rid of the "cat fever".

My husband took me down to the APL (animal protective league) and I knew I was NOT leaving unless a cat was coming with me.

I was nagging on about how I want a calico cat so that what I went in for. They had many and one captured my husbands heart but someone had already got her.

We settled for a different calico cat but we found out that she has an illness and we just aren't that ready to head down that road again since we did it with Ella.

So what did we come home with?

A domestic medium hair/mix (she's black) whom is such a sweet heart. We named her Mia =]

She's just the sweetest. We were in the play room with her and she was rubbing and jumping all over us I just knew she was coming home with us.

The APL had a special going. They are doing the "12 days" of Christmas and today was "bring in a can of pumpkin and you'll walk out with an adult cat for $9.00" !

I'm just so excited that I have a new addition into our family again (it's just me and the Mr.) but also nervous.

I'm so sorry about Ella.  That loss is pretty new for you.
I, too, came home with new kitties about three weeks after my beloved Skittles passed.  A home just isn't a home without kitties in it, is it?!

Mia is so sweet looking, I love those big eyes looking up at you.  How old is she?

She is 6 years old!  and what I find so silly is that her birthday is 11/18/07 and our ella passed 11/19/13. I didn't even notice till we got to the checkout line.

And you are completely right. A home is not a home unless there's at cat. I just couldn't take the "cat fever" any longer and i'm pretty sure my husband couldn't either. For 2 days in a row I've been on his back about another cat. It was BAD!!! I'm so happy to have one home with us.

OMG! I ADORE her! I'm a pushover for black cats, especially long-hairs.

I'm very sorry that you lost Ella, but I think you did the best thing--you took in another kitty who needs a good home. That's a nice way to honor Ella.

A few years back we used to have a British bombay :)

I remember hearing a woman talk about black cats today..

"No one wants the black cats because they are not "different" "

Who could not wan't Mia?! she's so sweet. My mom came over to visit us and Mia would not leave her alone. Mom couldn't even watch her TV show lol

Wow,  Mia is gorgeous!   How wonderful for both you and her that she is home for the holidays.

A beautiful solid black coat can be as pretty as anything!  it really makes those big eyes of hers stand out!

I'm glad to have her home. She was a Christmas present from my aunt.

I have to get used to all of her fur. Such as grooming. I even looked over her paper work again and she has had a tooth pulled. And noticed moderate dental disease. She may need more work done or may not. Hopefully we'll be able to find out this week =]

I have to say, I had no idea that I started this thread in "the cat lounge" I meant to start it in "new cats on the block"

I don't know how to "switch/move" this thread over...

Sorry guys!
