Good morning and TGIF!

I spent some time last night working on my grocery list for Monday (although we're going into the grocery store tonight to get some items that have been on sale for the week; I need ricotta and lasagne noodles). There are certain brands of food that I buy without thinking about it, no matter how expensive they are over other brands. I do use some store brands, but rarely. For example, we only use Heinz Ketchup; Rick won't even touch other brands. We only use Crest toothpaste and only Listerine mouthwash. I prefer Contadina tomato paste and sauce. I only buy Ghirardelli chocolate chips. King Arthur flours, unless there's an excellent sale on Gold Medal; then I'll buy GM. And I'm a Pepsi girl....Coke products don't stand a chance in this house.

What about you? How "brand loyal" are you?

YES, YES, YES!!!!! The stores have been out of stock on the 60% ones and it has been making me crazy!!!!!!! I finally found some yesterday.

Like you, there are certain things that I buy certain brand - Listerine mouthwash, Pastene tomatoes, only Cabot seriously sharp for my mac and cheese. If I don't buy Dreamwells pasta, then it has to be Barilla, etc. There are plenty of other things though that I will buy the store brand with no qualms.

I'm only 'brand loyal' if they earn it.

I like to buy local organic products and try to support local stores and markets.

I'm not brand or shop loyal tho' do have certain types of things I prefer.  You can find some real treasures that way!   I do try to support local and organic/environmentally kind when I can afford it.

I'm brand loyal on only certain things. I do buy a lot of store brands because I have a tight budget. I also shop sales as much as I can. Actually, because I'm brand loyal on certain items, I'll only buy them when sales are going on like diet Coke. I can't justify paying full price.

Brand loyalty only covers certain things for me, like ketchup (Heinz), butter (Kerry Gold, not so much because of the taste, but because the cows are allowed to graze like they're supposed to, not kept cooped up in barns and fed grain) and dishwashing detergent (Palmolive, due to allergies).

I'm pretty brand specific, as it relates to what things taste like, quality and as Jcat mentioned - if the company is particularly good about how it creates their products.  There are certain items where I will have 3-4 brands I purchase - butter is one.  I like higher fat content butters; they taste much better and cook better so Pulgia, Kerry Gold and a few others make it to my list.  Just depends on which supermarket I'm in - some don't carry one or the other.  I also will look for organic or local products and pick those over others when possible.

As I've gotten older I have less tolerance for foods which are heavily processed and filled with junk which alters their taste - although I still eat a lot of that kind of food when pressed for time.  My favorite supermarket has their own brand of many foods (Wegman's) but...I've noticed they add carrageenan into SO many of them, that I just can't make myself buy them, even though they taste pretty good.

I'm not very brand-loyal; mostly I look at the labels and the prices. I'll always try a different brand if it has quality ingredients and a good price. Jcat, how funny you mention Kerry Gold, the only exception is I like only one kind of cheese, Kerry Gold Dubliner. If I can't get that, I don't eat cheese at all.
I didn't realize how it was made, no wonder it is so good!

Yes, l have a few things l would never substitute, like Heinz Ketchup,  Hellmans full-fat Mayonnaise,  Bovril,  Heinz tomato juice, things that have a distinct taste compared to their counterparts.

I do buy store brands - but I agree on things like Heinz Ketchup. Hellmann's Mayo -- but I also love Miracle Whip.

I am. Would probably be even moreso if I had more money.
  • Hunts ketchup (I don't like that Heinz has HFCS)
  • Yoplait yogurt
  • Tyson frozen chicken products
  • Eagle Brand sweentened condensed milk
  • Lucky Leaf pie filling
  • Breyer's ice cream
  • Hershey's chocolate syrup
  • Duncan Hines cake mix
  • Bisquick baking mix (for pancakes and waffles)
  • Mrs. Butterworth's pancake syrup
  • JIF natural peanut butter
  • Mt. Olive pickles
  • Texas Pete hot sauce (I also like Frank's Red Hot and Sriracha)
  • Sparkle paper towels
  • When I was a soda drinker, Pepsi (I hate Coke)
  • Store brand milk (I hate Pet and Maola)
That's actually a lot more than I realized. I'm probably forgetting some, too.

I buy Ultra Brite toothpaste for hubby and Crest for me. I buy Heinz ketchup and Fab liquid laundry detergent. I buy Nexus hair spray. Other than that, I am good for store brands.
