I can't seem to find any info on taking Clavamox and L-Lysine together. I have a 3.5 mo old kitten, Wally, who is on clavamox for a URI (he's been on for 3 days). But, he's not been eating/drinking as much since he's been so congested! Thankfully today his appetite has increased some, but he's only interested in dry food, and still not drinking a whole lot. (Ive been giving him some pedialyte to keep him hydrated.) anyway, I keep hearing about Lysine and it helping with sneezing, watery eyes etc. I picked up a bag of the GNC Lysine treats thinking maybe they'd help with some of his symptoms... But is it ok for a kitten to take clavamox and have lysine at the same time?

Yes it is okay for him to have Lysine while on Clavamox.  Lysine is an amino acid, and not a medicine.  It will not interfere with the Clavamox.  Have you tried putting him in the bathroom with the shower on?  The steaminess helps with congestion.

I've put him in shower steam a few times, and had the vaporizer going for him. But it just didn't seem to do a whole lot. He makes this slurpy, gag type noise when he eats because of the mucus. But over the last 24 hrs, it appears the mucus in his nose and eyes has thinned out, and he's not sneezing as much. Last night he had some huge sneezes, that maybe shot some of that crud out!

Thanks for your reply!

my poor little one has had a respiratory infection for quite some time now (1.5 months...) same symptons as the ones you are describing, to the T.

We are now on a 3rd week of clavamox + LLysine (400ml a day) and he is progressively getting better day by day. It's scary at first, I used to take a hot shower every day for him to feel some kind of relief, but keep doing what you are doing there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

PS: if he is sneezing and his mucus is clear that is a very good sign, if he is sneezing and his mucus is still white, he is still sick.

good luck! sending positive vibes!

Something else you can do is dilute canned food and syringe feed it to him.
