I have been looking at other food I can rotate with my 2 cats Wellness core they get. However, they have to be inexpensive because I have to spend $50 on a case of wellness that only last 12 days. So I would like to get some cheaper quality ones (preferably grain free) to switch every other/every 2 days. I've been thinking of using Authority and Petguard. I brought the petguard home about a week ago (only 1 can) to let them taste and they loved it. Have any of you used either one of these foods, and if so, what was your experience with it?

I fed raw, so what I am saying is based on other Forums.
Authority gets good marks, I believe it is dye free.
Fancy Feast classic is also low carb. Friskies pate is pretty good too, and the latter is often on sale at PetSmart.
This is a thread, recently updated, about cheap grain free food.

Both Authority and Petguard have grain and are somewhat high carb. Hound and Gatos is high protein and costs about $1.30, that is what I like to recommend because it is a good value. It is hard to find, see my signature for sources.

Correction. Authority has about 11% carbs. You want 10% or less, so it's OK, could do a little better. Sorry, was going by memory on that one.

But what about Authority (from petsmart)?

Pate Turkey and giblets recipe: Turkey, Turkey Broth, Chicken Giblets, Brewers Rice, Chicken, Ocean Fish, Dried Egg Product, Guar Gum, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Brewers Dried Yeast, Vitamins (Vitamin E, A, D3, B12 Supplements, Thiamine Mononitrate, Niacin, D-Calcium Pantothenate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin Supplement, Folic Acid, Biotin), Minerals (Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Copper Proteinate, Manganous Sulfate, Potassium Iodide, Sodium Selenite), Choline Chloride, Taurine

Fat is 6.5

All the other flavors are about the same.

If you're looking for grain free, Authority is a no-go.
