So I was playing with Leda tonight and she did a super cute fall, roll, twist move and then it happened.  She opened her mouth enough for me to look from a new angle.  I was actually able to get a perfect view of the upper teeth.  Well, what she has of them.  The middle four are gone leaving one incisor next to each canine.  I got her to sit still long enough to look at the bottom teeth again to be able to get exact information.  Her middle two bottom incisors don't seem to exist.  the other ones are crooked.  I couldn't keep her still to see the back and check them out.  I have no idea how long the top teeth have been missing.

Leda is only a few months shy of two years old.  She will be getting a vet appointment after next months rent is paid.  The only reason I'm not rushing the issue is it doesn't affect her as far as we can tell still.  I do want to make sure it isn't a deformity that will cause too many problems in the future.

Has anyone had this experience with a cat this young?  Everything I've seen is about older cats losing their teeth.

Losing the incisors - the small teeth between the canines - is pretty common and doesn't seem to cause problems.  What you need to look at is if her gums are normal or not, and if there is tartar on her pre-molars or molars.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't notice any tartar buildup. I was able to get her mouth open later to check the back teeth at the cost of her deciding to sleep in the livingroom.  Her gums didn't appear swollen, but she's missing a premolar on one side (I think it was her right side).  Since she didn't fight me too much, I am going to start trying to check more often and get her used to having it done so when I get her to the vet, they don't have a nightmare of a time doing it.  Again, she doesn't seem to notice her teeth are missing, but I am glad that it's common for the incisors to be missing.  It gives me some comfort that it isn't too serious.

Yes it's pretty normal for them to lose their incisors.  My oldest kitty lost hers at a young age.  Just check your kitties teeth regularly, not only to get her used to it but also to catch any problems as early as possible.
