Sorry to gross you out, but I found something quite creepy in one of my cats' dry food bowls. I presume one of my cats coughed it up. Is it part of a parasite or is it part of a cat? Well, now that I say this, I'm thinking it is part of a rodent a cat ate. But having come this far I'll go ahead and post...It would about fit on a nickel.

It looks like a larvae of some sort. Are you sure one of your babies coughed it up? That's what it looks like to me though.

I'm glad you mentioned it would fit on a nickle. From the picture it looks huge. Scared me for a sec. I would email the pic to your vet and get their thoughts. It looks very wormish to me but I've never had a cat throw up a worm/larvae. Usually comes out the other end.

Thank you all for your thoughts.

After further research on the Web, my guess continues to be an entrail of a small animal.

The transparent outer layer is probably akin to "natural casings" used in some hot dogs.

I love cats and am sorry they kill.

I think you need to have that checked out by the vet.  This could be something that's causing your cat's other problems (drainage, etc).

The 2 ends being closed off make me think it isn't an entrail. This does look like a worm/larvae of some sort. Furthermore the cat threw up where he eats...that seems odd to me. I'd take the specimen and cat to a vet.
