I was told she might be constipated following the surgery, shes still peeing as normal but I haven't seen a poop in the litter box in a couple of days (2-3 I believe) She has ate about 2 oz today along with some treats. That's with me spoon feeding her and following her around and "enticing" her. She is still drinking plenty of fluids. For the most part my kitten eats wet food, I've warmed it up in the microwave and by using hot water. She rarely gets dry, I've had dry out since she stopped eating trying to see if she will eat any. Since shes stopped eating she's been doing the "digging" motion to any food I give her. She will either sniff it and do that or she will eats a couple of bites and then proceed to "dig". Shes been lethargic today though.

She's not pooping because she's not eating much.  That's definitely cause for concern.  You might need to go to the emergency vet or find out what to do after hours from your vet.  You can also try plain meat baby food (no onions or garlic and turkey or chicken flavor) with a bit of plain canned pumpkin or plain baby food squash.

I second getting her to the emergency vet or calling your vets after hours #.  Not eating can be quite serious in cats.

My parents don't think its anything serious so they wont take me to the emergency vet but they will take me to go pick up some baby food to try.

I'm going to go pick up some beechnut baby food in a bit, whats the likeleness of her being constipated? I read that when their constipated they don't really wanna eat.

This has been going on, way too long, she should act, like she is starting to feel a little better.  She is most likely not eating, because she is constipated, ya know how ya feel, when you get constipated, or because she is not getting enough fluids in her, and she is dehydrated, which would also cause her not to feel well, and not want to eat.

Being under someone else's control, is tough, when you know something is wrong.

So, lets try it this way.

How do your parents feel about the kitten? Do they like her, or do they just tolerate her, as in, she is just there, and "I gave you a kitten" ?

If they really like her, and don't want anything to happen to her, then appeal to them, in that respect. If she is just an after thought, then you appeal to their financial side, which is what most people or parents reason, for not taking proper care of a pet. A spay is very expensive, so they just spent like a lot of money, to get her spayed. By not taking her to the vet, its going to get worse, and cost them even more money, to get her treated. If she dies, you will report them and they just wasted all the money they spent, on getting her spayed.

There are several things you can try, but she is a kitten, and at this point, we really don't know, what her issues are, and by hit or miss, we can make the situation worse.

Mine get a pain shot, and they are confined to the bedroom, until they start to act better and want to eat.  Then its several small meals, thru out the day, and its wet food, mixed with water.

Another thing you can try. Tell your mother, what the kitten just had, is a hysterectomy, and ask her, how painful is that, and how would she feel, if she felt sick, and in pain, and your father wouldn't take her to the doctor.

If nothing works, then call the vet yourself, not the girls, but the vet, and see what he/she has to say, and go from there. Best of luck, keep us updated.

I made a call to her vet last night and got a call back this morning and set up an appointment today. I convinced my parents that the vet thought it was serious enough that she wanted to see her so they took us in today. The vet said she looks over all healthy. They gave her a hydration shot (? Fluids under her skin) And they also gave her an apatite stimulant. They told me to call them in 3 days if the problem persists. I was told that cats are kinda like people and she just had a big procedure done to her so she doesn't want to eat much. Just like when were sick we don't want to eat a lot.

I'm so glad you were able to take Ziggy in to the vet. And glad the vet thought she was doing well. Has she pooped yet? Was she interested in the baby food?

I'm glad they agreed to take your kitty to the vet!  It can be hard to convince someone else to spend money, luckily it sounds like they care about your little cat.  The cat that I just adopted was spayed before coming home, and when she was still under the pain meds they had given her she ate normally.  Then when the pain meds wore off, she stopped showing interest in food.  You could tell she was painful just by the way she walked.  There were a couple days where all she would eat was some wet food, but luckily it wasn't as scary as your situation.  She is doing fine now, and I hope that your kitty is back to normal soon!

Wonderful news!!!!
Hopefully she is on her way to mending completely. I know you are relieved. It's amazing how exciting a kitty pooping and eating can be, isn't it?

Thanks!  And I know what you mean about the poop excitement; I once cried tears of joy/relief years ago when my rabbit finally pooped after being constipated and lethargic for two days!  I literally did a happy dance, lol!

Good for you for contacting the vet and convincing your parents to take you to the vet!  Woot!  Glad she's doing a bit better and has pooped and eaten a bit.

What they gave her, is called sub q fluids. Its fluids they inject, under the skin, it kinda looks like a balloon, in between her shoulder blades. This is so she does not get dehydrated. Being dehydrated, can make her not feel good either, and make her not want to eat.

That she started to want to eat, and feel better, makes me think, she was dehydrated.

Be careful with the baby food, eating a whole jar, can give her the runs, lol. You should give her 1/2 teaspoon, mixed with water, so its like a thick soup, several times a day, until she wants to eat normal. Being that she ate the whole jar, that might have helped with the constipation.

When my boys were neutered, on a Friday, the vet called on Sat morn, to see how they were.  They weren't interested in eating, and altho they wanted to be with me, they were way too quiet. The vet told me about the baby food, to get them to eat, to keep them hydrated. By Monday morning, they were back to their normal crazy boys selfs, I too, was very relieved.

Keep the meals very small, and several meals thru out the day, until she is acting like her normal self.

Glad you got your parents to take her in, I was gonna call Peyton Manning, and have him take her in, lol.

You can also try adding a bit of baby food to her regular canned food to see if she'll take it that way.  Then, gradually wean her off the baby food.  Is she doing better today?

It helped that the vet visit was free since she was fine before she got spayed so they saw her free of charge. My kitty is eating more today, without my help which is a relief

She gave up food but she didn't give up drinking water and the vet said she didn't seem dehydrated but she wanted to give her one just in case anyway. She only ate 1/3 of a jar, I feared that she might have pooped a ton if I gave her a whole jar so I limited her to 1 oz yesterday and another 1oz today
Shes eating her regular canned along with some of the canned the vet provided me with yesterday, she doesn't seem to fond of it but eats it so that's what counts ha ha. I knew something was wrong when my kitten wasn't eating for a small army and when she wasn't bouncing off the walls like normal. She's not much of a meow-er though. Thanks for the info (: I will keep her meals small and many throughout the day!

Way to go!!  You've done a great job with your girl and she's so lucky to have you to care for her.  Keep us posted on how she's recovering.  Hope she continues to eat and eliminate well for you.
