hey everyone,

so i decided to get a kitten but iam having problems as to where to make his bed and the litter box.

my problems exist because:

1- my sisters are not so keen on cats; so i cant put him in my room

2- i live in a 3 floor house; so the litter cannot be very far example, the third floor and the bed 2nd right? or is that wrong?

3- i dont have a extra room or bathroom to place the litterbox; whereever i put the cat and his belongings in time a smell generates which my parents do not approve of (i used to have a cat)

so please if there are any suggesttions or any tips about cats and if the can move around to find their litterbox and stuff like that do tell me!!

thanks

What age kitten are you looking at? The cat should be able to have the litter box on a different floor and learn where it is; but, there is always the learning process. I have a 3 floor house and there are litter boxes on floors 1 and 3.

If you are looking at getting a young kitten, know that they may have accidents if you only have 1 litter box simply because they may get lost in the house or wait too long before stopping playing/sleeping to find the litter box. (Say the litter box is on floor 1 but kitten is playing sleeping on floor 3 he may not make it down to floor 1 where the litter box is.)

If it's an older kitten know that it will take a little while for him to learn the layout of your house and may have a few accidents at the beginning.

Have you talked with your family about your decision to get a cat? It doesn't seem like any of them want a cat in the house. Perhaps it would be best to wait until you have your own home to get a cat?

Welcome to the site!  I hope you find the information and help you are looking for.

However, Catpack has a good point--if nobody else in the house wants a cat, it may be difficult.  Where will the cat eat and sleep?

thank you for your replies :)

its not that they dont want it its just that some of them take time getting use to having a pet but ofcourse they will all have to agree before i get a cat because i wouldnt want to return him.
