My engagement ring and wedding ring are one of those inserts - or sometimes called jackets. The engagement ring fits into the wedding band. Anyway, it's been feeling really tight lately. The jeweler said to try cleaning the set first, and watch my salt intake as it makes your fingers swell. Well, I guess the salt might be part of the issue, but the real issue is the set is 48 years old and I'm not quite as skinny as I was in those days. So next week I have to bring the rings in to be re-sized! Since it's 2 separate rings, they have to charge for each one - and it's around $100 each - depending on what has to be done. More than I expected, but that's life! Too bad my fingers aren't as skinny as they were years ago!

They'll most likely have to add gold or platinum, whichever your rings are made of.  That's probably why the procedure is so expensive.  (Don't think procedure was the word I was looking for, it's just one I use a lot.)

I had that problem with my rings. The jeweler here wanted $50 per ring. I started eating gluten free in March of this year and now all my rings fit. I didn't have to pay the jeweler.

Went to the jeweler today but upon her advice we decided to hold off on resizing. It's a little cooler today and the rings seem to fit a bit better. She suggested waiting until after the holidays, as this time of year the sodium in all the foods might make the fingers swell. Don't want to resize and then find the rings are too loose. Oh - another thought - maybe if I lose a few pounds they'll fitr better!!!!
