For ten years my Hunter been drinking RO water in his fountain, but now he's more into drinking tap water. Is it okay if he switch to tap water? thanks

Yes, it is fine
I think many owners give their cats tap water, and that's not even considering the cats who decide they MUST drink from the faucet whenever it drips

I think it is fine as long as you don't notice any changes after the switch. I recently switched from tap to RO and I noticed an improvement in my three cats.

The reason I don't use tap because our tap is very hard and who knows what other bad chemicals in it. I suppose I can mix RO and tap.

That should be perfectly fine. My kitten gets mostly filtered water, but she sometimes has tap water. I haven't read anything saying that tap water is bad for them.

I just don't want him to start that, he's very stubborn, he will not drink out of his fountain and just stares at the faucet.

It depends on your tap water. For most I think it wouldn't be a problem, but some people's tap is full of minerals that cause problems, especially if their cat is UTI prone.

I think I'll stick with RO since he had UTI once before. If I don't give in, he'll go to his fountain. Wish he just doesn't look at me with those sad eyes when I don't give his request.

Make sure he's hydrated, as that can lead to UTI crystals/stones, too. Feeding wet food is the best way to hydrate them.
