Hi! I just joined recently and wanted to say hello. I have 3 cats at home, all rescues. My first cat, Oscar, was found outside as a stray around 3 mths of age. He is a huge mama's boy and my baby. He is 13 (1/2) now. A year after I got Oscar I adopted Felix. I was drawn to him because he was listed as a Turkish Van mix. He was about 8 when I adopted him from the shelter where I am now an active volunteer. He is my dude and he is around 20 now. He loves a good canned food and a small pile of Bonito Flakes. My last cat is my Hyacinth. She is a foster failure. I started fostering her in 2006 and after no one showed any interest in her for months on end I just kept her. She is about 13 now as well.

In addition to my 3 "peeps" I foster on occasion for the animal league which I am heavily involved in. I have fostered pregnant cats, a very, very shy British Shorthair who was dumped on the side of the road in a box and badly blocked with crystals (he was the best cat and was such a love bug at my house, luckily he found a wonderful, loving couple who simply adore him and he now rules the roost), a litter of puppies, and my most recent is a young mom who was diagnosed with stomatitis. I just had her 3 girls and all but one have found great homes. It is always exciting to foster and my cats are so used to it (although the puppies kind of threw them for a loop). One of the 3 kittens I just had was born without the tibia in her back legs and also had no rear knees or ankles. She was a dark torti so of course nothing stopped her. She went to a wonderful home with her sister where they are adjusting the house to help her. So now I just have her mom.

Well, that's my long introduction. I joined to try to gain some insight on cat care, supplements, general advise, etc. Although I have cats my cats have always been healthy so I look for advise if any issues come up with the shelter cats.

Thank you for reading my novel of an introduction! Cats rule! : )
