Tanner  -  Tan,  TanMan,  Old Fella (he's not even 8 yet!),  Shriek (he has a deep yowling meow)

Bretten  -  Skinnamarink,  Pip (he has a tiny baby voice),  Cherub (sarcastically!!)

Rhys  - Tubby,  Owl,  Beautifulest
And on occasion, l put on a Scottish brogue and call him by the name of the Scots character on Austin Powers

All 3 of them purr when l say Mom's Beautifulest Boy, because l call them all that when they're getting loved up.

You all have very sweet names for your cats. We are not so kind in the way we address them, but I assure you all the nicknames are filled with love.

Amelie is Beast and Monster (because she hides under the bed, like monsters do). We sometimes call her Hilda because we do not know German and she seems to be meowing in German.

Harley is Piglet, Fluffy, Fatty, Ugly tom cat, and something in Romanian that could be translated as "little disabilit - ated". I know, not nice, but with his damaged eye he looks kinda funny sometimes. He is also called Jose and he sometimes meaws in Spanish.

For Sophie we have some made-up words that mean something like "ugliness" (my mother, who dislikes cats, when she met Sophie she said "what an ugly cat!"), "midget" and "special" (like in someone with special needs). Sophie sometimes yells "je m'appelle Josephine!" but no one calls her that.

l had to come back and post another nickname. l can't believe l forgot this one, l use it all the time:

Bretten  - nickname Chicken (or the way l say it to him sounds more like Tickin)

l call him that for 2 reasons: He's a Cornish Rex so l call him my little Cornish Hen. And he's so very gangly and lanky that when he stretches out he looks just like one of those rubber chickens!

Si :  Mister Fulla (fulla $hit that is).  So endearingly vocal and bossy about what he wants.   He also goes by Momma's Big Boy or Shouldercat.  Of course some of you have cats like this and understand that 'shouldercat' dually converts to 'a$$cat' if you bend over while shouldercat is in place, and they stretch across you like a sofa

Monty :  I call him my Little Littles (he's feels so small at 6.5lbs versus Si at 13.lbs) and he mostly goes by Daddy's Little Man.

Aw...I call my Sebastian "Chunky Monkey", too.  Well, when he used to be chunky, that is. He's starting to put weight back on, so he can once again reclaim the name!

Yeah, DeeJay has to gain some more weight but she's slowly getting her girlish figure back :-)  She was once 14#, granted she should maybe weigh 11 or 12, she is 10# now.

I call Barney Chunk Monkey also. He has a big fluffy belly that I love to rub and kiss! It's very fitting for him!

How funny is that ! My Cairo is a sphynx so he is always climbing. He also uses his paws likes hands to pick things up and it reminds me of a monkey

Our grey long-haired Maltese's official name was 'Mischa' but my Mother started calling him 'Sugar-Lumps', then that went to 'Toogie-Lumps' and then to 'Toogie' in very short order.  That one stuck.

Angel was 'Daughtery-Thing' and Angelina was 'Doll-baby'.  Hoppi's official name is Hopalong Cassie--but we call her Hoppi.  Ginger Bear is 'Boy' as was CopperEye before him.  My two newest boys, Shadow and Brightspot, are 'Black-kitty' and 'Brighty', respectively, unless I have to call them collectively out of mischief, then its "BOYS!".

My Rainbow Kitty, Chynna's nickname was "Face."  Her nose didn't go straight down like many cats, instead her's had a bit of curl-up to it, and her face was on the small side, so it gave her a dainty look.  So I just started calling her "Face." because so many people commented on how cute her face was.

Abby's nickname is "Baby Girl" or "Abby Wabby", or "Snug Bug."

Spencer's nickname is "Spency" or "Spender Wencer" or "Baby Boy."

Katie doesn't really have a nickname, but I sometimes call her "Love Bug" or "Katie Waitie."

...with the cats...
my mickey's name evolved over time. his given name was angus, but that evolved to  angus mcbangus, mickey bangus, then became mickey b. other nicknames were mini (because he and i were so closely bonded to each other that i always thought of him as a "mini" part of me), mini mickey, mini darling, mc b, momma's mini, momma's mickey, and sweet pea.

my snick also has quite a few nicknames. snick's given name is snickel, but her nicknames are:   snick, snickel snutch, princess, pretty little girl, girly girl (because she's very feminine), and sweet pea.

i always liked sweet pea for both cats, and would tell them that they were my two sweet peas and that that was because we were like three peas in a pod we were so close.

Love these nicknames - so original and imaginative. Our nicknames are:

Mr. Grimsby - Mr. G. (most of the time), Precious (a lot of the time), Sweetie-Pie (some of the time), Jiggity G (seldom)

Bertha - Bertha-wurtha, tubbo-wubbo, fatty-watty (these are all hubby's nicknames for her). I call her Pretty Girl, Sweetie-Pie, Piggy or Brunhilda (names we were considering for her, along with Petunia Pig) and You Jacka$$ (when she's biting)

I feel positively bereft of imagination comparing my list to some of these others ;-)

Best regards,

PHarber-Murphy
