Last week I took my two cats to the vet for a respiratory infection and after clearing that up my younger kitty seems to be showing the symptoms above with his eye. Other than that he's been eating and drinking fine and has been his usually self. I just noticed the swelling tonight and can tell it's getting worse and wanted to know if there's anything I can do from home to help ease the symptoms? Right now I have no money to take him to the vet until Monday (he's already been twice within the past month once for shots and then again for the respiratory infection) and I feel really bad for having to make him wait that long and to see him in pain. Based off the symptoms does anyone know what it could be? If so, is there anything I can do to help comfort him? Is this something that's contagious and could me/my family and other cat get it?

Thank you!

If it's another URI it's very possible for the other cat to get it but it is not passable to humans. Is this the same symptom he had before when he was sick, or something new? I don't know of any home remedies for treating this but infections can be pretty scary in cats when left untreated. Wish I could be more help!

It could be related to the respiratory infection in which case you should be able to call the vet and get an eye ointment without having to take your kitty in.  About the only thing you could do at home is apply warm compresses to the eye.

What cprcheetah said.  It's very common for cats to have URI move into their eyes and its very important they get treated for the eyes as eye damage can result in bad cases if untreated.  There are both anti-viral and anti-bacterial ointments and drops depending on the type of eye involvement.

If your vet feels the need to examine the eyes, maybe you can ask for and get a reduced exam fee especially if this is the same cat who was previously examined.
