I have a 16 plus year old Rag Doll mix kitty who has been a diabetic for over 10 years, she is my little trooper

and a joy to us. Past few weeks she has had some anal gland issues. She has had some like 8 yrs ago but healed up

with one round of anti b's. This time I noticed she was having some issues and looking back they as she was laying down saw something draining so I pressed with a warm soft paper towel and much yellow liquid came out. Vet visit lead to some Clavamox which I couldn't  get down her very well at all, and it

made her sick so back to the vet and she got a Convenia shot, which scared me since I read some ppl don't like to give them to

their cats but mine has had one few times before for teeth removal ( sugar cats lose teeth). Anyway week went by still draining so

that didn't help one bit.  Next trip 3rd time to vet now shes taking something made just for cats Orbox every 24 hours, a week goes by tomorrow

and she is still draining same amount of liquid NON SMELLY MIND YOU... so I gently squeeze out the right one only. NOW I GUESS I am thinking I need to keep them drained for the infection to heal up? I mean its not working with anti B's. Im so worried about her.. shes hiding most of the day, a little better cuz

before it she was hiding all day and lost some weight, now shes at least eating again, and her insulin shots are back on track with her regular

eating. Will warm compresses and few times a day of gentle pressing to expel the yellow fluid help her get rid of this infection?  Shes been going

to the same VET her entire life, she is a CAT ONLY VET, wonder why she didn't tell me to use warm compresses on her daily as I read online?

ANYONE have any help for me? I want to put some topical anti Bs on her bum too but VET said not needed. I need some help her hope you all

can help me and my sweet baby girl!! Taking care of an insulin depend cat is hard enough hate to have this tossed into the mix.. THANKS SO MUCH

Warm compresses may help draw out the infection.  We normally recommend topical antibiotics if they have an infection.

HI Presouz,

I'm sorry for your cat's illness!  Where is she draining from? Some infections in female cats drain from the urethra, others from the vagina.  Clavamox can also be given as a liquid if you're having trouble with pills.

Hi all its draining from the right anal sac only.. I asked my vet on the 3rd visit about local anti bs but she said no way is she getting near her anal sac cuz when she pressed on it my usually calm kitty let out a HUGE HISS, and this HISS is only the 3rd hiss in her entire 16 yrs and its been all in the past 2 weeks, two was when I tried to put her in my lap to check her blood sugar on her ear, I must have pressed her rump sitting her on my lap, bless her heart.. freaked me out both times so when it happen to the Dr I knew she was still in a lot of pain, was giving her pain meds she can only do half a dose and even then she sleeps 24 hours on one dose and wont eat from being to groggy.. so pain meds are not an option right now. I wanted to do some local anti b, something I read about called ClinzGard, a local anti b gel that is inserted into the anal sac. I emailed my VET about it just now. TODAY was the first day she was not hiding under the bed when I got up at 6 am to give her morning insulin shot. She is better but yesterday and this morning still yielded some yellow fluid. I will see if my Vet carried ClinzGard and why she didnt at least TRY to give her some in her infected right anal sac the 2 other times she was in last week? UGH
