Its been a while since I have been on here. I was just wondering if anyone has any idea if there are any natural/ essential oils I can use on them to keep the fleas off. My oldest boy, Storm, is chewing his hair off. Thank you in advance.

Most essential oils are toxic to cats, so I would not recommend any. The most "natural" way to remove fleas is to use a flea comb religiously, vacuum like a maniac and give baths in warm water only (or use a very diluted very mild dish soap). You can also try food-grade diatomaceous earth.

One question, are you sure it's fleas? Usually fleas are very evident and spread to other cats. There are other causes for itching, like food allergies.

Yes I'm sure it is fleas. All 3 cats have them and I have no idea where they came from Bc they don't go outside. I don't have carpet in my house except for my bedroom. I have bathed them and vacuumed a lot and still have a problem. I don't want to use any kind of chemicals because I also have sugar gliders whom are very sensitive to any kind of chemicals. Wouldn't dish soap dry out the skin out too much? As a dog groomer I would never recommend dish soap. Bt at this point I would try anything to keep my babies from being miserable.

Hmm, that's a tough situation. If you have tried the natural way and it's not working, maybe you want to consider a vet prescribed drop on treatment? Since they are put directly on the cats, I don't know how they could affect your sugar gliders, but I totally understand the worry. I am just not sure what else to suggest that's natural. I hope some other members will have some suggestions for you.

Thank you anyway. I haven't had this problem till just recently. Or course it's cold out (not that they go outside) so I'm guessing the fleas are just doing the same thing any other bug would do. I just feel so bad for my cats.

Yeah, even indoor only cats can get fleas. We can track them in on our shoes. :(
