Hi all - just joined this site because of the great wealth of raw food knowledge!  I'm very happily reading my way through all the old threads. Figured I should introduce myself and the cats.  :)

It all started with my sister stumbling on 3 little kittens dumped in a bag on the side of a road...  she asked if I wanted a cat and I said no, too busy, away with work too much etc.... but I'd love to come see them!  After a short visit, I had been chosen by one of them.  After a lot of research (I hadn't had cats since the outdoor farm cats as a kid) I decided my kitten could use a kitten friend... so I took the two male kittens and my friend took the female kitten.

Vet figured that they were 5-7 weeks old.  Parasites, ear mites and very skinny but no major health issues.  All suckle on things, likely from being separated from mom too soon:

Now:

Meet Aries.  Mama's boy, total sweet heart, sucks on the tip of his tail.  He's completely my cat - friendly with other people but he's snuggling with me!

And Orion.  Very busy, very playful, very much a troublemaker.  He's either playing, trying to play, getting into trouble, or asleep.  LOVES his raw prey model food and hasn't grown out of chasing his tail.

With two cats seeming pretty easy and the resources, space and time to add a couple more I decided to foster.  Seemed like the best way to help lots of cats and Aries and Orion get along very well with other cats.  I fostered a pregnant cats, kittens etc and then was asked if I'd take in two adult kitties - they have been picked up as strays on a reserve and been to the vet's but were not adjusting to life in the pet store (where the place I foster with places cats to get adopted).  I took them and it was an interesting challenge - they were absolutely terrified and hadn't been eating in the pet store.  They spent the first couple weeks in my walk in closet, sleeping in their litter box because it was the only place that they were comfortable (smelled like them).  I had to smear food onto their faces and then spoon feed once they licked it off for the first 4-5 days becuase they wouldn't leave the litter box to eat.

Fast forward 6 months and these two had taken over the house and fit in completely.  No one had shown interest in adopting older, (formerly)very timid cats that were bonded so I foster failed and they haven't left.

Meet Gia and Karina.  Gia is actually Karina's grandaughter (the one with the fluffy tail).  Karina is 5-7 years old and a very sweet lap kitty.  Gia is 2-3 years old and a snuggler but very, very playful.  She's in love with Orion.  Neither is timid at all anymore and will come meet strangers and will even come out when my family is over with their small dogs.

Gia and Orion:

I still foster and currently have two 6 month old kitties that were also formerly too timid / scared to get adopted.  Luckily, all 6 cats get along wonderfully and play / cuddle / groom so it isn't difficult to add new fosters. :)

The boys, checking out who is coming to visit:

Aries and Gia:

Thanks for reading!  Looking forward to learning from this site.  :)

Welcome tot TCS, and bless you for taking in the cats. All of them are so beautiful, and lucky to have someone like you! (I especially like the 2 boys looking over the railing to see who's visiting!)

Oh, what a great story.  And what a beautiful job you've done with them all.  They all look so healthy and content.

Absolutely beautiful kitties. No doubt Gia and Karina are very thankful you "foster failed" with them.
Obviously, they're all happy and get along well. You are doing an amazing job.

Thanks everyone.  :D

I'm very glad I foster failed on Gia and Karina too - they left me no choice!  But no more falling in love with fosters, 4 permanent residents is plenty.
