Just wondering what folks feed with. Paper plates or ceramic/steel bowls? We feed with paper plates at the shelter, but I feed with a bowl at home. Recently though I've been thinking about using paper plates instead. Any plus/minuses?

The obvious, which you probably already thought of:

Paper plates minimize clean up, but are more expensive since you have to keep replacing them. I don't know if there are any allergy concerns as there are with plastic bowls.

Paper plates can have a coating which release toxins upon microwaving.

I use stainless steel bowls for breakfast and dinner and paper plates for lunch because I'm too lazy to wash the stainless steel bowls in the afternoon (when I come home from school or work).

Six cats paper plates for their canned food. Boo, the rescue cat gets his food mixed in a ceramic dish.  I have back up ceramic dishes for the long-term resident cats in case we forget to get more plates..but it is a total pain to wash up that many plates 2 times a day.

We have a mixture of ceramic and stainless steel plates.  I confess....I only wash them once a day.  They use the same ones morning and night and then the next morning they get fresh ones.

We use small glass salad/compote dishes and put them through the dishwasher. Mogli goes through about four a day. The water bowls are ceramic or china.

I use ceramic food bowls and a stainless steel water fountain.

I'm a bit of a "green" freak, so paper plates don't meet my criteria.

Ceramic bowls for both food and water for my cat. Since I'm retired and I'm a home body now and have a lot of free time on my hands, I clean his ceramic food bowl after he finishes eating.

I hadn't even heard of using paper plates, either at home or in shelters.

I have ceramic bowls for everything.

Oh the horrors! lol jk. I give my cats new dishes every night and in the morning I put more wet food in the same dishes. Then I wash them when I get home.

I use stainless steel bowl for food, and a Corning / ceramic dish for water for Ritz.
For the cat colony I feed (by the dumpster), I use paper plates and/or bowls. I prefer the ones with a plastic coating because it keeps the dry food, drier.

Indoor kitty gets Dura Pet stainless steel bowls. High edge bowls for the water and kibble and the low edge bowls for wet.

The ferals get paper plates for food and a big ceramic dog bowl for water.

I use ceramic bowls. Only paper for random raw treat. But usually ceramic since Ziggy trys to eat the paper plates when I'm not looking!

I'm the bad one. I can't even vote in your poll. I portion my cats' raw into sandwich gladware for freezing, thawing, and serving. Literally in the mornings I have time to pop off lids and throw the bowls on the floor as I run to class or clinical. Because of trying to be somewhat green I cannot stand the thought of baggies. The only items not put through the dishwasher are the grinder parts, my Kiwi knife, and my poultry scissors. Those are washed in hot soapy water that has antibacterial in it, and I use 90% alcohol spray to cut the fat.

Their water bowl is Pyrex...do I get a point for that? :lol3:
