Ugh! Now she's throwing up food, and not eating as much. Her stools are back to normal. She goes back to the vet on Thursday to see how her bladder is doing.
Oh no! Do you think its because the pred is being tapered down? Sebastian flared back up within a few days of reducing the dose.

I checked with my dad and he said it's a possibility. It's funny because this is the first time she has thrown up throughout all of this.

Oh I hear ya, my hubby is having fits because Zoey (my chihuahua) might cost us lots of money if she's a diabetic.....well at least I get a bit of a discount at the vet, but it still adds up.
What a rollercoaster for you. When does this end for us. Just had Rexy in to the internal medicine specialist this morning, so readjusting her dosages for medications and such, and redoing bloodwork. Another large vet bill. Anyone know a millionaire who wants to pay my vet bills?!
Sounds like a plan! OMG it drives me bonkers when they don't finish their dinners. Three of my other kitties can stand to lose some weight so I don't freak when they do, but Mini Dee & DeeJay need everything they can get. It drives me crazy when they don't finish it all.
I also hate that feeling when they won't eat or sniff and walk away from food etc.
Sounds like there are a lot of us dealing with kitty health issue who could benefit from some meditation sessions with the Dalai Lama or something along those lines...
I am wondering if she's going to have to do the same, stay at a higher dose long term to keep things at bay. I hate the fact that she has to be on Pred, but if that's what it takes, that's what it takes.
Poor DeeJay. Ugh...I hate when they don't eat all their food...or they walk way from it. I can't even tell you how many times I've gotten that sunken feeling in my chest with Sebastian. We tried to reduce his pred dose too soon back in October (it had only been a month). So after he flared up again, we put him back on the dose that was working and stuck with it for longer. It's been three months since he's been back on that dose, and no major flare ups. ::knock wood:: He's had days when he's not entirely thrilled with eating, or vomited a little clear foam after defecating, but nothing like what it was.
Last month (December), there was a period of time when he didn't want wet food, but was eating dry food. This, actually, was a mild flare for him. He didn't feel all that great, was hungry enough, but didn't want the richness of the wet food. Rather, he wanted "saltines."One weekend my vet advised that I could bump up the pred by 1/4 tablet to nip it in the bud and bring it back down on Monday. This did the trick, and he's been feeling great since. Again.... ::knock wood::
And, yes, all of this is very stressful! Try to take care of yourself.(Not that I should talk.)
On Christmas eve, when everything was going nuts with my kitties, I had to pick some meds for them at a drug store. I decided to take my blood pressure on their machine to ensure all was okay. Admittedly, my blood pressure is usually low-normal or somewhat low, but nonetheless I was relieved when it was not skyrocketing that day as I was totally stressed out and almost in a panic.
I, myself just went to the Dr this morning and discovered I have High Blood Pressure.....hmmmmm couldn't be all the darn stress of the kitties and puppies getting to me, could it? LOL. Anyways just wanted to post the latest DeeJay news.
I know how you feel. DeeJay has been eating somewhat okay, then the past few days not really eating. She didn't even eat the temptation treats that the vet gave her today (she loves those). So update from the vet, the Simplicef (2 weeks) did not even TOUCH her UTI, she still has lots of WBC's and RBC's in her urine, so she has to come off of the steroids until it clears up as it was suppressing her immune system so it couldn't respond to the infection properly. She is going back on Simplicef and they added Zeniquin for 2 weeks. She started her Adequan shots today, she will get 1 once a week for 6 weeks. I was told that Muscle wasting is evident, her muscle has severely shrunk from it's previous size.
OMG! I swear I jinxed myself (and Sebastian)! Guess who threw up his dinner last night? He's been great for three weeks, I mention that he's been feeling great, and then he throws up. I'm just gonna stop saying it because apparently knocking on wood isn't helping. Grrr...
That is my dad's thinking that the pancreatitis is secondary and not the 'severe' issue at the moment. He said when there is a lot of RBC's in the urine it means the bladder is extremely inflammed. I am doubling up on her cosequin until she gets over this.
Ugh...what a balancing act...trying to address multiple things at once. I'm sorry to hear her UTI is still lingering. Is it possible that that is what's mostly causing her to not feel well, versus the pancreatitis?
We have our first throw up today. I didn't see it and got it all over my scrub pants, had to change. Then I stepped in another pile in my barefeet. GROSS! She hasn't really thrown up with all that's going on. I so wish we could read their minds it would be so helpful.
Believe me, I know just what you mean about the roller coasterI'm sitting right beside you with my kidney cat. One day she will eat like a champ (for her), then the next she barely touches her food. Yet the entire time she acts like she feels great. I haven't witnessed any frothy throw-ups in weeks, she has turned into a complete cuddle bug, which is totally NOT like her, spends most of her waking time out where we are, which is also totally NOT like her, which makes we think she is feeling a lot better lately. I'm giving her Slippery Elm Bark every day, so think that's it. But just can't figure out why she doesn't have much of an appetite. If we could only read their minds
Working on researching the antibiotics and appetite loss. She ate the rest of her breakfast (only had a few licks of it before I left for work), and ate 9/10ths of her dinner in one sitting. She had pukeys this morning that I found in my barefeet, so will be talking to the vet about Cerenia. It's like really? Can't you just get better with no hitches? I don't know if the krill oil is bothering her or not, she will lick it straight off the plate, she loves the taste of it. Maybe I should try cutting it out for a day or two to see what happens. I just started the rest of my kitties on plain fish oil yesterday.
Ugh....sorry to hear DeeJay isn't eating much again. You know, I think it's especially difficult to attribute it to any one thing. DeeJay seems to have a lot going on, so it could be any of her issues or a combination of her issues or even any of the meds/supplements she is on. Some antibiotics can certainly cause a lack of appetite, but I don't know much about the ones she is on.
Did you talk to your vet about Cerenia? It might not interfere with the healing process like the pred does, and it will help DeeJay with nausea. Also, apparently it is rare, but krill oil did not agree with my Boo at all and I had to take him off of it.
