Our dr's holiday party is being held this Friday at a hall here in Naples. Cocktail hour, sit-down dinner, music, dancing, etc. I absolutely hate to get really dressed up, but will wear a nice pair of black slacks and I got a pretty dressy top today. I know some of the people will be in gowns, but enough feel like I do and don't wear gowns. Besides, I would absolutely HATE to have to wear panty hose - haven't worn any in years! If I had it my way I'd be happy in jeans! But this is a compromise. REally looking forward to the party.

I'm just seeing this post! How was the party? I don't like getting really dressed up either. I did when I was younger. Now my goal is "cute but comfy."

Cute but comfy sounds great to me! Yes, the party was really nice. Lots of people -- some wore gowns, but just as many dressed like I did - black slacks and a nice top. Exactly what I'll wear on our upcoming cruise. Some of the men were really casual - khakis, sport shirt, etc. Funny thing was that one man we met and spent some time with was dressed super casual, wore a Santa Claus hat, and then we found out he was a Roman Catholic Priest. Guess Priests like to be casual also. Oh and Paul's diabetic dr was there with a man who I assume was her date. She was dressed up, but he wore jacket, tie, etc., but sneakers! Guess anything goes.

Wow....it does seem like the attire was all over the place! As long as everyone had a great time, then who cares...right?

I love Christmas parties and gatherings with friends to celebrate. I have a beautiful purple sequined sweater that I use for that purpose with the black pants. It has been years since I have had occasion to wear a long gown and go out.

Sounds like you had a nice time. No gowns here, rarely a dress. Most of the time I'm in jeans and a nice sweater. When we went to our grandchildren's school Christmas play on Friday night, I just wore a pair of charcoal grey dress pants and a plum cardigan with a matching shell. And a pair of black heeled boots. But there were people dressed casually and more formally. It's all about comfort, I think, and what you want to wear. And I think it's nice that way.
