Im so heartbroken

My 18 mth old girl Tilly was in a RTA last thurdday and she has a broken pelvis and broken tail which had to be removed as it was broken from the spinal cord

She also cant got for wee as she has bladder nerve damage and i brought her home last nite but she will not express her urine so when i went back to vets he kept her in :( and said he will give her meds to relax the bladder

Can anyone please give me advise to help me i will not lose her

vet said she is doing ok except her bladder can this get better xx

Thank you

Hi, what a terrible experience to go through for you both.  I can't promise your cat will be OK but I can say take strength from what your vet has said, that she is doing OK except her bladder, and also from the fact that she is young.  Try to be strong for her and believe your vet is doing everything they can to get her through this.  I am so sorry she had to go back in to the vet so soon after you first got her home, that must have been really hard.  I will be sending strong vibes that you have her back with you very soon so you can give each other strength. There are a number of threads, old and recent, for cats who have had pelvic or spinal injuries and being a young, healthy cat is a good thing here.

What is her name?  I would love to know more about her and what she looks like as I think of you both and wish you well.

It is really hard to say whether or not she will regain control of her bladder.  I have seen some that do, some that don't.  We had a client who had a cat that they had to express his bladder at home, they did it for many years before the cat passed away from other issues.

Tilly has been incredibly strong to get this far after her awful accident and your vet sounds like they are doing everything they can to support her. I know there is no way you are not going to worry, but you are among people here who love their cats as family and will be surrounded by people who understand.  It sounds like your vet knew what she needed to help her, and once her bladder relaxed she would be much more comfortable.  The vet will be able to keep her calm which is what she needs right now, and I am sure they will contact you as soon as they have news for you.

I had 2 brown tabby girls, and now have my blue boy; they are my children and I love them dearly, every day is for them and I can only imagine what it would be like waiting to hear from my vet in this situation.  I hope you hear from them soon so you know how she is doing, and that it is good news.

Sending lots of positive vibes for you and Tilly that she stays strong and gets back home with you very soon.

So sorry you are going through this!
I don't have much more to offer you, but I am sending many
for Tilly's recovery. She is in good hands with you and your vet. Cats CAN recover from injuries such as this. Hang in there. Keeping my fingers
for you!
