I adopted 2 brother kittens 2 months ago. They are about 10months old and were neutered on 7/22. Cezare seems to be the more dominant one, and will be the more aggressive one during their 'play fight' time. He will pounce on his brother Michaleto and bite the back and front of his neck...but it always end well, with licking and sometimes cuddling.

It also seems that Cezare has claimed me as his owner, and is not very interested in my boyfriend, while Michaleto loves us both. However, I did notice a little change in sleeping habits lately. Michaleto sleeps in bed with us almost every night and used to mostly sleep on my feet or between my legs, but the past 2 nights he has slept between boyfriend's legs. Cezare usually sleeps in his cat tree mostly, but the past 3 nights or so he has been very cuddly in bed with just me and has slept on my legs.

Last night, Michaleto slept in between boyfriend's legs and Cezare was in his tree....but at around 5am I noticed Michaleto near my face, scratching at the blankets. I thought he just wanted to crawl under, so when I lifted the blankets and he continued, I noticed the pee smell. Cezare hopped into the bed and they both sniffed at the blankets. I hopped outta bed and black-lighted the bed and found someone had peed (though it wasn't wet) under the comforter, getting the blanket and sheets right down to the mattress. It was also pretty localized, on my side of the bed. We noticed the smell of urine was on my mid to high back and the ends of my hair as well. My guess is it happened a few hours before I went to bed... I can't imagine having them pee while in bed and not noticing it, and it drying by the time I noticed....

Could this be a male territorial thing even though they are neutered?

Could it be a UTI?

I need HELP!

Some other info that could be pertinent: I washed the sheets and comforter 2 nights before, and have only had 1 incident of peeing not in litter box and that was a week after I got them, and it was into a freshly washed basket full of laundry.

Also, I pulled out the vacuum last night and they were really scared. One of them even hid under the couch until it stopped.

The vet told me to collect a urine sample from cats (which seems like it would be difficult) and bring it by so I wouldn't have to waste a visit to the vet. She said it is possibly a UTI but could just be an accident or...

I appreciate any help. Thank you so much!

With inappropriate peeing I believe a cat should always be checked for a UTI first.  If there is no infection than look at the behavioral side.
