Alright you all know my shadow by now,if not then heres a short summary.(no pets allowed policy on my apartment so hes an outside kitty)

Shadow is my black almost 4 year old male kitty. He was abandoned as a kitten from his feral mama, there is a feral colony near by(hes just scared of other cats that intimidate him, which is the whole kitty population.).So my boy is a loner and is not fixed (tried so many times to catch him in a cage, but it never works and he wont let me pick him up). I don't think he hunts, but just roams my side the builds small forest(saw him try to hunt before and he fail really bad,he went after a bird and it flew off on him.).So he gets a can of kitty food every day since he doesn't show that much interest in hunting(when I was walking to him to his feeding area there was a baby bird that fell out of its nest, and my Shadow just walked on by it and wanted his canned food.).My boy is so lovable to me and my family he just comes right on up yo you,but if you're a stranger he runs away and hides.Shadow even watches the parking lot when crossing and, looks out for other cats in his area.

Now that you  know my kitty heres the weird thing thats going on.3 new kittens, but now down to 2.(one hasn't been showing up anymore). They also have my Shadows face, eyes, and color so we think there his(you know maybe he mated with someone and thats why the kittens stay with him?Because the mama cat is no where to be seen.).

Theses kittens are about 4 months old maybe and, they came out of no where one day and started to bother my Shadow(i think they could be Shadows siblings, because his mama still has litters but in a part of the forest where no one can get to.Shes always abandoning her litters for some reason). Now I don't mind but I can't be feeding 3 cats you know.Another thing is it seems to really bother my cat that they are there,My Shadow is being really mean to them.Hes just hissing, growling and hitting them hard if they get close to him.I see the kittens try to rub up against him and my cat just freaks out at them and scares them, but they keep coming back.

The kittens are also pushing him away from his food,so when the kittens come my kitty just stops eating and leaves. We tried to seperate them and move the kittens to a different area(with food),we even tried to block them off from my cat.No luck on any thing so last thing to try was to trap them in a cage,we laid them out like someone suggested. All week we keep getting the already fixed cats, raccoons, opossums, armadillos in the cages. We can't pick up the kittens because they wont let humans come near them(even my own cat wont get in a cage or carrier,no matter what we try with him).

Now everytime i come out to feed my Shadow he is like mad at me.He eats then leave and wont let me pet him or get close to him anymore. Its really bad when the kittens are there and stay til he leaves, cause they follow him around. My cat acts like I'm the one who brought the kittens there.I tried to get rid of them or to get them to back off.I think my cat thinks im paying more attention to the kittens or something, when im not.Shadows like a big jealous fur ball because the kittens are there during his human time.

Hi again.

I am a little nervous about what you plan to do with the kittens once you have them in a cage? You say they are 4 months old which means they have probably just about passed the point where a shelter will take them to try to socialize them.  If you take them to a shelter for any purpose other than TNR it is a death sentence, and it seems you don't want to return them to where they currently are?

Really this is just a really bleak situation for everyone.  I wish I had something better than that to offer you but it's true.  The unfixed female is going to keep having litters of kittens and then abandoning them, unless you can get her fixed.  Shadow is probably the father of some of those litters and will be unless you can get him fixed.  The poor kittens who are bothering him and you just want to eat and have found a food source. Is there really no way you can put out enough food for them and Shadow? I see you are feeding him canned- might you be able to afford to feed the kittens some dry, even very low quality dry?

Sorry if this sounds defeatist or is not helpful but I think people already did their best to post replies in your very similar post a few days back.  I do hope you can find a solution that works for you, Shadow, AND the two kittens.

In all honesty, nothing is going to change unless all of these feral cats are trapped and fixed. Then, and only then, will they be able to live in harmony together, peacefully. You can still be Shadow's caretaker along with the others meaning once they are Trapped/Neutered and Returned to their territory, you care for them, feed them, etc. There is not other practical advice to offer you and I am sorry about that. All of the cats must be trapped. Kittens, even older ones, CAN be socialized. I have done it and know of others who have socialized older kittens. It would be best if you can find a local TNR organization to help you and advise you. Most are run by very loving and compassionate people who go above and beyond to help people such as yourself who are caring for feral cats. And, there can be many feral foster families who the TNR organization can direct you to or at the very least help stop the breeding in your area.

p.s. I must add this. Shadow is your cat, as you say. He is unaltered and being that way IS going to create aggression, create territorialism, create tension and many cat fights. Leaving an unaltered cat roam around outside ( for FOUR years !!!!!) is only creating more pain and suffering for his kittens to be born by feral moms. You have to take responsibility for those kittens whom are most likely Shadow's kittens. Soon they will all be breeding. It is incredibly important that you get Shadow neutered, immediately. If you can't trap him, get some help and advice from a TNR organization or feral foster network. Otherwise, your days of seeing more cats/kittens etc. are only going to magnify. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

If you can find a TNR organization to help you, they will have lots of tricks up their sleeves to catch, the trap savvy cat.  They may even have a drop trap where they can trap many cats at once.  The organizations are usually very busy, but call them and get on the list.    Most of the organizations are run by volunteers so you need to be patient.

Unneutered male territorial aggressive cats are difficult.  Their hormones rule their lives.  They may go for weeks without eating much of anything.  They look to breed and fight.  Once neutered, the hormones begin to shift and within 6 weeks you will notice a difference.  The cat will soften and there will be more peace.

Please consider asking for help in TNR'ing these cats.  It is so wonderful that you want to help and want the best for them.
