It seems like animals seek me out when they are lost

Just need to talk about this

So we are under a winter storm warning and it's pretty cold and snowing. This Beagle is wondering the neighborhood and comes up to my husband and I limping with his fur half frozen. My neighbors were calling for it following it around trying to find the owner with no luck. It allowed me to leash it so I told the neighbors I'd bring it in to warm up and we parted way after they said they'd post it on fb and let me know if anyone came forward as the owner. i put him in the laundry room so my dads dog wouldn't throw a fit, he was only limping because his little feet were so cold thankfully he seems fine now. He ate a bowl of food and had some water and got dries off.

He's an awesome dog, he seems to be housebroken and really friendly. He actually jumped up onto one of our dining room chairs and ate his food at the table like a person, I was shocked at his boldness lol. He seems more like a cat than a dog actually and made himself right at home, he;s stretched out on the floor in front of me fast asleep right now. He does seem sad though and every time I take him out to potty he seems to think we're going home or something which bums me out a bit.

I think he got lost and wasn't ditched as he seems super clean and well fed not to mention he is super trusting and had on a collar. He did have a tag but there is nothing on it. The only thing I see wrong with him is he has a tumor on his back end that isn't bothersome to him.

It saddens me but we are going to have to take him to our local shelter tomorrow evening if his owners don't come forward. Our neighborhood is off by itself so someone knocking on my door is not likely. I did post signs on our mailboxes which are shared with the whole neighborhood plus we knocked on every other door to see if anyone knew of a beagle in the area (apparently he wandered here from the highway). We also posted on the most used lost/found pets sight and on a facebook lost/found utah pet page.

I honestly think his best chance of being reunited with his family is through the local shelter, it should be the first place they go to leave their info with and hopefully he is microchipped so that would make everything much easier.  He's a great dog but I couldn't keep him knowing he is someone elses dog. He can't have been missing for more than a day by the looks of him and where he traveled to get here. I'm surprised he wasn't hit by a car.

Sorry I just needed to talk this out, it bothers me that he needs to go to the shelter but I honestly feel this is the way to go. When we lost our dog when I was a child we were lucky enough to find him after 2 weeks, I hope the same happens for him.

Here he is sitting at our table eating the food we gave him lol. He has class!

Poor guy, happy to hear that he let you leash him. Hopefully he is microchipped and they will be able to locate the owners through the shelter. If you guys where keeping him linger than tomorrow evening a few other places that I would suggest posting found posters at would be the local vet clinics and also local pet stores. Hopefully this boy will be reunited with his family soon, and bless your heart for bringing him in.

Beagles are runners, they'll take off and really go. It's pheasant hunting season here in New Jersey, and small game too. If there's a sporting goods store nearby try calling them and ask if any of their customers has a beagle that went walk-about. Couldn't hurt.

I wish you could keep him - and I also wish I could ask you to fly him down here to Florida to live with us. He looks like he'd be a welcome addition to any family. Just make sure the shelter is a no-kill shelter --- maybe you could advertise in the lost and found section of the paper? At any rate, I know you'll do whatever it takes to find his owners or find a new forever home for him. Bless you for taking him home with you.

Call your local radio station and ask them if they can mention the beagle on the air.

Several years ago, I came home from work and found a dog in our swimming pool. Thank god for the solar cover because he was floating around the pool on the cover. Had we not had the cover on, he would have drowned, simply from wearing himself out from trying to tread water for so long. We have no idea how long he was in there. I ran over and got the neighbor, stripped down right there and then (no way was I going into the pool with a dress on!) and jumped in the pool to get him out. Til we had him out, Rick was home. We called our three radio stations to report the dog and they were all very helpful. They put it out on the air and, honestly, about 20 minutes later, we got the phone call. The people told us the dog's name, we called the dog by the name, and he came running. They came right up and got him.

He is adorable....I love beagles.
