I am n ew please forgive my ignorance re:posting comments.

I met my first feral/stray cats after putting a bowl out for the birds.

I was broke didnt have a pole ,so I put the water bowl on topof an old half moon planter.

Guess what ?I soon started meeting about every cat in the neighborhood!So..place cats water bowl at chin level, next to the kibble plate/bowl.

One male-seven years, one female-threeyears,both have eaten Eagle Pack with no health issues(well.female is overweight a bit.)

Thank you for all the helpful info.No more Eagle Pack I have to pick another dry food.OH NO!

Thank you so much for caring for these little souls! I think you were very creative in figuring out how to provide food and water! I feed feral cats too, I try to give them a little comfort in their lives, even if just through food. It does cost a lot, even for dry kibble. I try to buy the known brands when they are on sale. Good luck!

My indoor boys eat Wellness dry and canned so when I started caring for ferals I wanted them to have good nutrition as well.  They hated the wellness dry.  Would not touch it.  I tried giving them Wellness high protein for the winter and they would leave it untouched.  For now I feed them a mixture of Meow Mix and Nutro Salmon.  They love it.  Every time I try to switch to a better brand, they refuse to eat it.  I would try the slow mix and the new stuff would be left in the bowl and the old food eaten.  Crazy cats!!

Thank you for caring for these kitties.  Great idea to make sure they have fresh water.

Cheaper brands of dry often contain "animal digest" which is basically like sugar coating for cats. That's why some people have a hard time switching their cats from a cheap to a premium food.

Fortunately, our ferals won't even sniff dry food. Once the skunks, possums, and racoons started showing up, I stopped trying.

I will never forget the day I pulled up at 1130pm to see... see an overweight opposum eating the food I intended for the stray/abandonded/feral cats

jeez what a dummy I am.started going to the dollar store and using wet food instead of dry. So if the cats were hungry(they really like wet food/dry food with good nutritional contentCats would come to eat quicker. I have to tell you I kept finding tiny opposum babies all over the yard.So these are real feral cats...

You could just go on and on and on.Cats loved Superkitty seafood and you know that is not nutritionally sound, according to experts.

But if you want to catch a stray/feral/homeless whatever title you wantu are trying to catch a stray/feral whatever they ALL love superkitty seafood, and I do mean all!

So I saw every cat in the neighborhood, fat cats with good homes were coming to eat superkitty seafood. So what does that mean for those of us trying to feed the right thing? They have stopped making Eagle Pack. Im going with Blue ,seems similar ,they both ate it straitaway, wish me luck.
