Question one: My cats, 11yo Bandit, and 5yo Rex are both very big, weighing in at about 15 or 16 pounds each. With the Vet's supervision, we've reduced their food considerably. They're indoor cats so they don't get much excercise. Any thoughts?

Question two: My cats also battle for dominance. Rex will chase Bandit away from her food and whenever he does, we scold him and keep him away so she can come back and finish.

Maybe two weeks ago, my family went with me to the end of the season marching band trip. We got back, and Bandit hasn't been the same since we got her from the kennel at the Vet's. Now, Rex won't push her away as much, and Bandit will often walk away on her own. We'll coax her back so she can finish, but she'll eat a bit more then leave again, leaving anywhere between a fourth of a bowl to a few pieces of food.

Do you think she's okay?

Is Bandit having any other problems? Vomiting, diarrhea, eye or nose discharge? She feel hot?

I'm not a vet. She just may be grumpy still from being at the kennel, or she just may not like her food. My cat goes on snit fits a couple times a year, loses a pound, then eats normally again.

It probably isn't anything , but if she appears ill then she may have picked up a cold or something at the kennel, in which case she really should be seen by a vet. But as a non dominant cat, she's more liable to get upset by change. (Was this her first time at a kennel?)

No, she's not having problems other than what I mentioned. I'll keep the flavor of the food in mind next time I get food for them. Thank you!

Was your first question really how to get them to lose weight, or how to get them to exercise, or just what?  I'm not sure what you want our thoughts about

On the second item, you say Bandit hasn't been the same since you got back 2 weeks ago.  Is the only difference the way she walks away from her food, or are there other changes?  If other changes as well, what are they?
