I am as my husband says a Human Mommy to 7 kitties(cats they were born late April early May) born to two feral moms. They started coming in our yard so we started feeding them, and they just stuck around so we have gotten them used to us and spoiled them rotten. They aren't supposed to come in the house, but being the softy I am, I let them come in and sniff around for a little bit. I even let come in a sleep on the couch when no one is home. lol! Their names are Bravyn, SugaPlum, (A)Pache, MuShu, Blakki, Justice(my pic), and Socci. Bravyn, MuShu, Blakki, and Socci are all boys, and SugaPlum aka Fairy, Pache, and Justice all girls. They have become my husband and my life. Socci and Bravyn are twin Tuxedos, Blakki and Pache are black with a brownish, Pache has a white patch on her chest they are from one mom. MuShu, Justice and SugaP are all grey, brindle and white. They are all unique. Their personalities are all so much fun.

Bravyn - My brat!!!! He is a Momma's boy all the way. He lets you know when he wants to be held, how to hold him, and where to pet him! He loves watching videos on my phone. And listens to orders when it comes to getting in the house EXAMPLE: it was raing the other day and I told him when I go to the back door come running up and I will let you in!! lol He did everything the way I told him.

SugaPlum - Daddy's girl(brat)!!!!! She is our little attitude! Daddy calls her his Fairy. She has to eat in a different spot then the rest of the others. If you don't pick her up and put her there she will walk away from you and not eat. If she is hungry and waiting for food(with everybody else) and one of them gets too close to her she will smack them. I always tell her that won't get you fed first! LOL. She is a small cat compared to the others. But her attitude makes up for her size!!!!!!!

Pache - Is my little angel! When I walk outside she will run from where ever she is at and sweetly demand my attention. She will lay by your side and rub on you until you start petting her! She is the most shy out of all of them! When getting treats she will wait politely until you set it in front of her. She loves to be right by your side or by your back. She is my little ball of fluff!! lol She loves to get her belly rubbed.

MuShu - Is our big porker! Hence the name (MuShu Pork). He is the biggest of them all. He likes to steal the mice that others find and pretend he caught it. He is not one to get a whole lot of lovin' but when he wants it let me tell you he clings to you like white on rice. He is my sweet boy though. When we give him treats he doesn't like to bite at your hand, but will lightly bite at the treat til you put it down for him. He loves his boxes.

Blakki - He is my crossed eyed baby. Well they look crossed. He is a sweetheart. He loves to cuddle to you, but he'd rather by your feet and legs. He is a shy one too. Doesn't like to be held, but if you pick him up he won't fuss too much. He is another angel. One sweet boy. My sister-in-law named him btw. We thought he was all black like his Mom, but he has such beautiful color flowing through his fur.

Justice - My little piggy. When you ask Who's a hungry she is the first one to come running. She is the loudest meower at meal time. She also loves to be held. She is crawl up your shirt to let you know she wants to be held, but don't dare carry her around or she will fly out of your arms. She has the most brindle out of the grey ones. She is just a joy to be around.

Socci - His name is Socrates, but I cal him Socci or Soccers. He is a sweet kind spirit. He loves to be right on the side of your leg. And also loves getting belly rubs. He is the second biggest. When him and his twin get together you know trouble is sure to be right behind them. He prefers not to be picked, but loves to cuddle when he doesn't feel good. But if you sit butterfly style on the ground he will climb in your lap and sleep for hours.

All of the boys have smooth coats and all the girls are fluff balls!! Thank you for reading my story!!

Wow, your fur-family sound amazing.  I am so happy that you have adopted them and keep them safe and warm and fed in their own preferred ways. I hope their moms are both well and still around.  The youngsters sound pretty friendly and trusting around you which is lovely.   My boy is no lap cat but he used to do that curling up in my lap when I sat cross legged on the floor when he was a bit younger - very sweet.  I hope to see some pictures, and to hear more about these young cats as they grow and develop in to their own adult cat pursonalities.  May they stay safe through any bad seasonal weather you may have (I don't know what country you are in).  I am sure there will be a whole load of information, and interested fellow members over in the rescues and ferals forum who will love your story even more than me.

Can I ask, have you been able to neuter / spay your youngsters?

They are not spayed/nuetered as I can't get them to the vet right now. I know they need to be and am doing my best. The black Momma is still around and has had three more kittens. The grey Momma is no longer around, we have no clue what happened to her. Since they aren't supposed to come in the house we have the garage set up for them. We are in Los Angeles so it doesn't get too too bad here. But I also have some boxes and a storage container that I have laid on its side and have blankets in it! Here are some pics

This is Bravyn

This is SugaPlum

This is Pache

This is MuShu

This is Blakki

This is Justice

And this is Socci

Those are my babies!!!

They are gorgeous, what a fantastic job you are doing with them.  Is the picture of Socci a recent one? His inner eye lid is showing, as if he is unwell here.  It may just be the photo of course.

I worry about your not being able to get to the vet as you could very quickly find your self with an awful lot more kittens.  The boys and girls will mix with each other even if they don't have any other cats around, and they are at an age where this could start to happen.  The little girls especially need some protection if they are not to become very young moms.  Is it distance and transport, or finance that makes it difficult?  If it is finance there is a lot of information on possble financial support available on the site which I would happily post links for if it would help.

Its a little bit of both. Yes please I would love some info. Their "human" daddy tries to keep them apart. lol. Suga usually smacks the boys if they get too close. And the other two try to stay away from the boys when we aren't outside. I have had those same worries.

Welcome to the site! And thank you for trying to care for this family of kitties. It takes a good hearted and loving person to do what you are doing. In all honesty, though, the first thing has to be that you get this family spayed/neutered. As others have stated above, and I want to reiterate, you will soon be overloaded with kittens and some of whom may become quite ill. It will be harder and more expensive for you when this happens, and it will. :shame: Please see about trying to get some help from a local TNR organization, feral cat foster network, low-cost vet clinics, humane societies, etc. http://www.thecatsite.com/t/203204/list-of-low-cost-free-spay-neuter-clinics-in-the-us

Also, if you plan on being their caretaker, then they can be returned to your yard. Having the spayed/neutered kitties living on your property will also keep other stray cats away. Since they are not altered currently, then soon more cats will be coming around for breeding, fighting and feeding. We all will encourage you to do that - first and foremost - getting them fixed. Thank you for trying to help. :hugs: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

p.s. If one or two of the kittens is becoming sick, then they will need a vet, hun. They would need antibiotics. The only thing I could suggest would be this:

L-Lysine powder 1/8 tsp. (250 mg.) per bowl of food twice daily. For adults - 1/4 tsp.(500 mg.) twice daily. It is a natural amino acid and will help ward off the herpes virus and other viral infections. BUT if it is bacterial - only an antibiotic will help.

You have been given some great advice here.

I am also going to repeat the urgent need for spays/neuters. They are 7+ months old and are all sexually mature.

This can get really bad for you, and them....

Not only will you have a ton of new kittens, and at this young age their babies can be unhealthy, small, and often times the mommas are still too young/immature to be good mommas, which means you will have to bottle feed or at least supplement feed them, which is veeeery tough and time consuming. So much for a full night's sleep for a long time.....

But another big problem will be, the males will begin to fight. It doesn't matter how much you think they are bonded and get along, once they are sexually mature, the spraying starts, the territorial fights start, and they no longer know that they are siblings. They will be overcome by their instinct to mate.

They will be fighting, and it's nothing nice. They fight to do real damage, bite wounds that immediately become infected and abcessed. The smaller, less aggressive males will get hurt, possibly badly hurt.

It doesn't end, it only gets worse and worse, soon they live their lives driven by hormones, it will get ugly.

I am VERY familiar with finances being super tight, most of us here can relate to that, believe me! So we all get that part for sure, and nothing to be embarrassed about, EVER!

However, if you don't urgently seek out low cost s/n in your area asap, you will have a nightmare on your hands, likely sooner than you think.

I'd bet on it now, someone is prego.....soon enough they all will be.

In the L.A. area, here are some that came up when googled. Plus many more.

Oh, one more thing, be sure they get the FVRCP vaccine when they get fixed. Otherwise they will surely come across the top 2 most common upper respiratory infections, which are for life, making them sick bad at first, then when (and sometimes if) they recover it will come back time after time. A few may need a couple of terramycin eye ointment treatments, this is dirt cheap and no big deal, very common for outdoor-born kittens. They need deworming and flea treatment as well. Many rescue groups will give you a tube of this for $5.00, or it can be found without prescription on ebay too. It's simply an antibacterial eye ointment.

Good luck!

UGH!! Forgot to mention, their momma needs to be trapped and spayed too!! She will just continue to pop babies out which drains them of anything of value their already nutrient deficient systems have, causing weak kittens and eventually anemia and death to her. They can only do this time after time for so long...

Thank you for all of your advice. I will take this to my husband so we can discuss this further. I do have one silly question. Can one of our boys be in love with one of our girls without trying to have sex with her? It seems that Blakki isn't trying anything funny, but just follows Suga everywhere kind of like a love sick puppy. If she comes running he has to check on her after she stops then goes back to what he was doing. Then today was the funniest... she got through eating the food on her plate and he jumps up and starts sniffing and eating what she left. I do have to add that she runs away from him like she is playing hard to get. I am just curious about this. And wondering if it is anything to be concerned about.

It's cute that they are getting on well but yes, I would be worried that maybe there is some interest there and suggest keeping the males and females apart if there is any way to do that?  It would be better they be inside and unhappy than get pregnant I think at this point.

That really should not be the concern right now, hun. She is going to go into heat OR is in heat OR is already pregnant. It is extremely important that you get her to a vet for a spay immediately. At least start with all of the females regardless of whether they are pregnant or not. Hard reality - but it IS for the best. Good luck and I hope you and your husband can get this done. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

I have to agree fully, it is in yours and all the kitties best interest to get them done now, before this gets out of your control.

While I think Blakki's 'obsession' for Suga is infact mating related, he may very well have eyes for her, some attraction to her.

But just because you don't see him trying to pounce on her, he is likely going about things with that in mind :)

Her playing hard to get is how the mating can go, but same results......
