I recently took my guy to the groomers. When I dropped him off I explained that he had a spot under his chin that he kept scratching and opening up. She said it could be acne which is caused by giving him water in a plastic bowl. I've never heard that plastic bowls could cause such a thing. Should I change to glass water bowls? BTW: His chin is fine and fully healed. No Acne from what I can see.

Acne can be caused by many things, but use of plastic bowls is among them. Using a glass, ceramic, or stainless steel bowl can't hurt, and the cost investment isn't much.

Yes, cat acne on the chin is frequently caused by plastic food and water bowls. Plastic is the worst at harboring bacteria which can cause it. Glass, good quality ceramic and stainless steel are better options.

The plastic collects the oils and bacteria which causes the acne.  It's best to use stainless steel or ceramic.
