I can never understand people not wanting black cats, I think they are beautiful.  I know there are myths and legends and stuff but in the world today we should know better. The only issue with black cats for me is how difficult they are to photograph!  This thread is great.
Because they're idiots

And here is Si's new 4mo old baby brother named Monty.  We just rescued Monty yesterday from a wonderful shelter near us.

Aw, lucky baby Monty:-D  I hope they're getting on and OK about sharing space.

Si really is stunning, a very pretty boy.  And the colour of those eyes with his back fur.

Thanks so much for the compliments on Si.   He is truly a beautiful cat.   Monty is a little ham when he's playing and the sweetest little cuddlebug.  I updated a behavior thread I started about being nervous to adopt a second .. but today was a huge win/win in our books between them.  No physical play yet but overall we believe Monty was the perfect fit because he's so unassuming and respects Si's boundaries.

I use to have a black smoke cat which we named socks since he had that parted white thing and he only seemed to have whte on the paws! He continued his life onto the brige in 2008 due to a bad tumor and liver cancer. May you rest in peace!

He's 7 months old, so usually he's just crazy. He loves to climb the blinds and get into things he's not supposed too. He does get cuddly and sweet sometimes, when he's tired. He's not aggressive, he loves to play with the other cats and the dog and he'll let me do pretty much whatever I want to him. Right now he and the dog are wrestling on the floor.

If you take loads of pics you'll find at least one that is just right. That's no problem with today's digital cameras. Imagine what it took when you had to send your film to be developed!

Yeah for black cats, they are the most beautiful, sleek (if short hair) and most cuddly (if medium or long hair) cats ever. Mine is short hair and cuddly too, a virtual purr-bomb who sleeps with me. When he was recovering from surgery due to an anal hernia he slept with me with his face scrunched against my face, he has stopped that now but still sleeps on the second pillow next to mine.

I've had quite a few black cats but others too ( a red one with long hair, a white moggy, several Persians of various colors, Himalayans, tiger-striped ones, grey ones that looked like Russian Blues) but I always go back to black or tuxedo cats, preferably with medium or long hair, always adopted from shelters and always what is considered a "senior cat" , i.e. over 8 years old.

Superstitious nonsense has no place in today's cat lovers' lexicon.

That is wonderful.
My 2 eat together and sometimes out of the same bowl at the same time. Baby blighty will push big brother whiskys face and stick his I in too. Cheeky.
I completely understand Stewball!   It took my breath (with Monty being a very recent addition to our home) when he stopped eating his food and raced over and stuck his head directly in Si's bowl while he was eating
I knew then that Si's tolerance of his new little brother was far greater than I had even hoped for.  Si looked at him briefly like he had 3 heads, licked his chops and let the little guy have a bite.   Not a peep out of him.  Whew!

They can be amazing. Whisky had only been with us a couple of months and he'd been abandoned so I worried about that but he was so excited to have blighty.
Last night whisky was on my lap under the blankets in bed and blighty dive bombed him on his head.
It used to look hysterical when blighty was really small and he attacked whisky with his paws round his neck and biting his ear. The punishment? Another bath!

Me-oh-my, I've fallen in love AGAIN.
I can almost feel those little white paws hugging my neck.

(and she looks like she's going to jump quite high).
