My KitchenAid Mixer arrived.  I heard the mail truck pull up in the driveway when I was about to change DS.  The kids helped me bring the mail in and I put that beautiful box that said "KitchenAid" on the floor in the foyer first.  There may have been jumping and squealing out of one of us.
It's sitting on my counter; just to my right looking ooooooh so pretty!!  My DD helped me pull it out of the packaging and she squealed "And it makes POPCORN too!"
I had to look at the other side of the box to see where she got that idea and I still don't know.  Funny kid!

Oooops.  He tried
And it was a nice gift.

Dh has been asking me what I want.  I didn't know. When we got back Sunday from Family Holdiay vacation #1 (my family at Thanksgiving- his at Christmas) I checked out the Amazon Cyber Monday deals.  Dh likes my Kindle- and said he'd be willing to take that  one if I upgraded.  It was $50 off the newest Kindle Fire- so I got a Kindle Fire HDX
I'm getting it early b/c we aren't going to be here at Christmas.  And it's got Skype loaded on it.  I have a dear friend I haven't seen in years- she works in China.  I facebooked her last night, and she's got Skype on her computer- I think it will be neat to be able to "see' her again

I guess I'm just cheap.  I feel guilty spending the money b/c we have so many other things that $200 could go to- and I have a Kindle that works just fine..............

Cheryl
Oh don't worry; I have both a kindle and a kindle fire.  I use the kindle fire constantly.  DH had to get his own kindle!  I think the kindle is better for reading on.  But since they sync it's not a problem to switch between them.  We don't typically buy a lot for ourselves.  But they have been worth every penny.  All came after our birthdays when we had been given money from family as gifts.  It helped with the cost.  But they get so much use it has been great for us.  I really want to get MIL a kindle for Christmas; the reader kind.  I was going to ask SIL if she wanted to go 50/50 with us; but they are sitting on 2 mortgages at the moment so I won't ask.  We don't normally do gifts that big; but every once in a while we will for something special like that.

Aww!  He tried!  :lol3:   Does he know you know?  Or are you going to act surprised when you open it?

Oh no. Can you act like you're surprised when you open it? I never could. A few years ago, Rick had ordered Shun knives for me for Christmas and a Kitchen Aid food processor. Well, I was at work and checking my home emails. And there they were. You could hear me woo-hooing for miles! He didn't even think about getting emails for the stuff when they were shipped out. And honestly, I should have not even opened them. But I did.
I'm going to try to act surprised. He may suspect that I know, though, because I got a cat tunnel and some Christmas decorations out of the attic Sunday.

A Kindle (or two) or a Kindle Fire isn't really a luxury if you read a lot, because 1) e-books are generally cheaper, and 2) there are so many free books you can download.
That mixer sounds like a dream, even if it doesn't make popcorn! :lol3:

Very true!  Most of what I read these days comes from the freebie list; or I found the author because they had something on the freebie list.  Many of the classics are free because they were published before a certain date.  I like the free or inexpensive apps for the kindle fire too.  I find some really cute ones for my almost 4 year old to play.  Last Christmas i considered getting her her own for long trips; but decided against that.

It's definitely my dream gift!  My problem today is that the refrigerator is too full of leftovers from the last week to do any baking!  I'm not cooking dinner till these are gone so hopefully I get to test it out in the next few days!!  Now what to start with!

I kind of wanted to go out; at a reasonable hour.  DH did get to Lowes for some shelving for our closet; but since he had to remove the car seats to get it; the kids and I had to stay home.  My Mom was texting me while they were shopping.  She and my Step-dad took DD to see Planes earlier this year; so they bought that for her on DVD.  I think she is getting a Play-doh set that makes like ice cream cones or something along those lines.  And a few other things.  I've forgotten!  DS is getting trucks and a tool bench from them.  I've been putting some things away for a few months now.  So it's not like I have all of their shopping to do; but still.  They were TV shopping for themselves too.  I'm not sure if they picked one out yet.

I did get an early Christmas present with the pre-black friday deals on Khols website earlier this week.  I got the Kitchen Aid Artisan mixer, in Boysenberry    , on sale with an extra 20% off.  I also earned $75 in kohls cash with that purchase... :lol3:   I have wanted one for years!  A friend sent me a link to the deal and I mentioned it to DH.  I didn't think he's go for it like that so my hopes weren't up at all; but he said to get it!  It's my present for the year; but it'll be nice to have just in time for cookie baking!  I think I checked my e-mail at least half a dozen times on Wednesday to see if it had shipped yet.  It hadn't. :lol3:

I promise you, you will love the mixer. Two things I am in love with are my Kitchen Aid mixer and my Speed Queen Washer.

I'm hoping it lives up to the expectations everyone has set for me!  The tracking showed it arriving on Wednesday; so when I heard the mail truck this morning and saw it...I got absolutely giddy!!  Unfortunately I seem to have picked up a cold; so I'm going to go curl up on the couch with the manual!

MoochNNoodles- That sounds like a neat gift! Even though it doesn't make popcorn

My sister took my mom's (but mom's going to be living with her and she LOVES cooking).  It would be neat- but I have a small kitchen and counter space (and storage) are at a premium. The Keurig we got a couple of years ago trumps all other small appliances

On election day- I did this temp job where I handed out exit poll surveys.  It was a neat job- I got to see how people were thinking on election day, and I got $275 to boot
I wasn't really sure what to spend it on- then dh brought up the idea of the new Kindle, and that deal on Amazon's website was just too good to pass up.  I got the free month of Prime as well- we're going to see if it's worth keeping b/c then we have to get some sort of a streaming device so we can stream movies.

It just came in the mail.  Except I can't use it at the moment
.  We have 4 smartphones, and I couldn't see paying another $10 (or something like that) to add a tablet to our plan-so this only has wifi.  Which is fine, I use it here with wifi.  When we travel I've connected to whoever's wifi we're using (or the hotel we're staying at)  I forgot the password to the router, so I have to wait unitl dd or dh comes home to tell me what it is.

On the other Kindle- I downloaded this silly cat game app.  Sam LOVES it
Holly doesn't get it, she just looks at the screen and seems to say "I want a REAL mouse"

I had one of those apps and they played with it the first time and never again!  I recently deleted it. LOL

My kindles are all wifi only.  When we travel it's generally to somewhere that has wifi now.  Even my Grandparents have it because so many of us were looking for it while there.  I even use my kindle fire to take notes at church now.  I love that it fits in my purse!

(Not clapping because you don't feel well, but because your mixer came.) Is it as gorgeous a color as it looks in the ads? Just think of all the things you can do with that mixer! Yay, you!

Sneakymom, my Nook is wi-fi, too. Honestly, I will never be without an e-book/tablet again. IMO, it's one of the greatest items on the face of this earth. So many books and magazine, and cookbooks, and games, and...................everything! (As long as I have a cord and power, I'm good to go. And even if I go somewhere that has no wi-fi, I can still read.) Funny you should mention the password to your router.....I thought I had mine memorized. Well, when Rick got his new Droid, I went in to take his old Droid out and add the new one. And I can't remember the password. I have to wait until my BIL comes over and we'll have to sit down and figure it out.
Honestly, my memory is worse than a sieve; I swear it's turned into a colander (bigger holes!).

It is!  I need a sweater to match it.  I'm in love with the color!  I told my Mom it reminds me of berry stains.  So pretty!  After I posted last night and went to get the paperwork; I realized the pour shield thing was missing.  A quick call to KitchenAid and it's on it's way to me!

I do have to admit- that is one really neat thing about a tablet.  I had to look up a recipie for oatmeal raisin cookies (for church).  Looked it up on the Kindle.  So easy- just had to make sure I didn't drop anything on the screen

Well poo, I should've looked to see what the Petsmart sales were!! We were at my grandma's house in NJ for Thanksgiving, and dared to venture out to the mall nearby. Tried getting Colin a cell phone case, but their prices were $20 cheaper on their website than at the store!! Then went over looking for a pair of boots. I was going to get some Uggs, til I saw the price tags... $204 for ankle-high boots ... ON SALE!?!? Ended up in Macy's and bought Bear Paw calf high boots, which were more than I expected to spend also, but omg so comfy!! I practically lived in them until Monday lol. I wish that B&N would have sales on ebooks - most of their coupons and sales were geared toward physical books. I would probably spend way too much stocking up though :lol3:

One year, my ex and I went crazy and spent about $8,000 by 8am on Black Friday! We'd been saving up for house stuff, so it's not like it was a spur of the moment thing though :lol3:

KItchen Aid is the name of a company that sells large and small appliances. Small appliances include the large, heavy mixers that we all love, food processors, immersion blenders, portable mixers, and such. They do sell some larger appliances; my current fridge is a Kitchen Aid side-by-side.

You can Google "Kitchen Aid mixers" and you'll see what we're talking about. Probably the best mixer around....bar none.

Have just looked at the website and it looks very much like the range of appliances we have in the UK made by Kenwood.

I thought of that.....the sweater! It's just a gorgeous color! I need a nail polish of that color, too!
Oooo!  I wonder if I already do?  I love nail polish colors. If not; I'm on it!

I did just get a purple sweater this fall; but not that shade.  It wouldn't be bad to have 2 different ones right?  I think I would have to pose with the mixer and post here after that.

The mixers are very popular here.  My mother-in-law has had hers for many years and it's going strong!  They come in so many colors; it's fun to find your own.  You can also get a variety of attachments for them.  My Aunt is probably the most like Pam of anyone I know for the quality and quantity of what comes out of her kitchen.  She uses hers to make pasta and pierogis even.  There is even a meat grinder attachment my cousin uses (my Aunt's son, he clearly got her cooking genes!).  I may see if my Mom wants to go in on any attachments with me someday.

Hey Mooch, wear your sweater AND do your nails! You can point to your KA in the picture! All that gorgeous purpley color!!

We have the grinder, too; I used it to make cranberry relish for Thanksgiving. Abby's Mom has the ice cream maker attachment and she makes a lot of ice cream. We also have the pasta attachment (my in-laws gave that to us one year for Christmas). Honestly, you cannot go wrong with a KA!

I would like to get the Flex beater for my KA....I've heard good things about how it cleans the bowl so well.

My classic KA (Baby Blue) has got to be pushing over 25 years now....it seems like we've had it forever. It was my Christmas present to me from me years ago and I bought it on layaway. My KA Pro (Big Red) is about 3 years old now and it's been put through its paces, too. The only reason we have Big Red is because we just happened to be at Williams Sonoma one day and they had them on sale at an unheard of price, plus we got a $50 rebate. That took the price down to almost what I paid for the blue one years and years ago. I had wanted a new KA and even Rick said that, for that price, we had to buy one. They had one red mixer left, and I scarfed it up. They both get used a lot.

When my mom decided she wanted a KA mixer, we gave her a Classic (in Cobalt Blue) for Christmas quite a few years ago. Well, she used hers hard, too, but it got to the point where it was too heavy for her to handle and she didn't want to keep it on her kitchen counter. So she gave it back to me. There I was, with 3 KA mixers. Well, my niece decided she wanted a KA. I gave her Mom's and it's still going strong.

In my purple kitchen!!

It's only half purple though.  The top half of the walls are a sandy brown.  The bottom half of the kitchen is a darker purple.  I love it,  Because of the cabinetry; it's not overpowering.  I still need window treatments.  Those will likely be neutral or perhaps a green to tie in the living room since the house is kind of open.

I don't know where i'd start with the attachments.  I think I need to find a cover because this is going to have to sit out on the counter.  But who wants to cover that purpleybeautifullness!!?

In all seriousness; I have some Kohls cash from the purchase of the mixer that needs spending.  I will likely look for a shirt or sweater in that color!

I also got a $50 rebate on it.  It was on sale, plus cheaper when I put it in the cart. Then I had a coupon code for an extra 20% off.  That all really brought it down to reasonable!  Plus the khols cash was at an increased rate for black friday week.

Way cool! And you have a purple kitchen? I am green (or purple, as the case may be) with envy! Man, you did great with your mixer purchase! Kudos!
