How old is he?

At about 4-6 weeks, kittens learn to use a litter box pretty much on their own.  It's an instinct.  Just put a small, low-sided litter pan (we use non-stick cake pans) with non-scooping litter in his room, and he'll find it.  But kittens ARE babies, and just like babies, it takes a while for them to know when they need to go, and to find a litter box before they're desperate.  This is a good reason to keep them in a small, uncarpeted room for a while, and not let them wander the whole house.

When we had wee kittens, I would put them in the small litter box and gently take their front paw and move the litter around, the way cats would normally do. I put the kitten in the litter box after every meal (kittens tend to eat often, IMO, after every meal is good because it makes it more of a routine). I put the kitten in the box as soon as it awakens from a nap....again, it makes it more of a routine. I always take his/her front paw and move the litter around....the way most cats do to scratch a hole in the litter. And sometimes after a good play session. Sounds like the poor kitten is going to be in the box all the time, doesn't it?
But really, it's a good way to get her/him used to the box.

You do need a small box, one that's not high off the ground. The stores carry tiny little litter trays, but a cake pan with lower sides works well. Or just something that's small with those low sides, so the kitten doesn't have to try to climb over the walls of the box. Make it easy, so Kitten doesn't have to struggle. Keep the litter box in a good place, away from sudden noises and too many people walking around.

Our RugKittens had their mom with them, too, and she was really good about litter-training them. But a little extra help can never hurt. Just be gentle with your kitten, using that front paw. And I think eventually he or she will get the idea. Cats like to dig anyway and they like to scritch around in the litter.

(Don't be too surprised if you find your kitten sleeping in the litter, too! Our Mollipop napped in her litter box every once in a while....silly baby. Oh, and your kitten will make a mess....it's great fun to stir up all that litter all over the floor! I swear our Tabby would jump in her little litter box and scurry around, sprinkling cat litter all over the kitchen floor. Just to watch me clean it out up again. Molli did the same thing and so did the RugKittens....there were five of them, so you can imagine all the fun we had training them to the box.

Patience. That's the number one thing to remember with little kittens. Good luck!

Ah okay thank you both very much. I will get one of small pans and set it up for him. Mom is a feral(well was i brought her in now and shes super good with me. The rest of my family she doesnt like much. Lol) so she doesnt know how to use the litter box. Maybe she will learn when he does. Which would be pretty awesome. Yes i will put him in after feeding and when he wakes up. That sounds like a good idea. Thanks again for the help!

At 26 days he is only just starting to use a litter tray.  Pop him on it before and after each meal.  If you catch him in the act pop him on it.  Never scold!
