Ok, i've always loved white persians, but was always worried about the problem of keeping their face clean.
Well afer talking to breeders, i was assured they weren't tooo much more work than any other colour persian.
So little ultra type Angel has joined my feline family.

Ok for one....these breeders weren't being entirely truthful

Shes sooooo hard to keep clean! i wipe her eyes 2-3 times a day, and shes still always mucky and got these annoying yellow tear stains. She's been checked by the vet so i know theres nothing wrong with her medically.

So my question, there must be something out there i can use to keep her face clean?? Come on people, let me in on your secret....

Hey Gurl! How goes it? Well, being the mom of 2 creme persians, I have the same problem. HIssy told me about this stuff called eye envy. Eye Envy I haven't tried it yet but am going to. It's kind of pricey but I'm guessing it will last forever.

From what I read on the website, it is supposed to prevent the staining for a time too. When I get paid, I'm going to order some. Wonder if you can buy it in a store somewhere?

I do not know this from personal experience, but I asked a breeder at a cat show once who had a lovely white persian what to do for eye stains and she said liquid boric acid (which I DO know is safe for the eyes).

I just ordered some also. I have a red creme persian who also has this eye staining problem. We always just wipe a few times a day with warm water. I hope this works better.

I wouldn't want to use anything with acid in the title on anyones eyes.

I get eye wipes and those eye q-tips where you crack on side of the q-tip and the liquid drains to the other side, then you wipe the eyes.

You can get both at Pet Smart.

Many eye washes contain boric acid. Simple eye ointment contains boric acid. Heck, your eye sticks probably contain boric acid

"Acid" does not automatically mean deadly.

Boric acid has been used for MANY years as an eyewash for humans. I know the word "acid" sounds bad, but when used properly, it's safe.

And contrary to popular opinion and advertising, baby shampoo is just as irritating as regular shampoo. It just has an added numbing agent that prevents the irritation from stinging.
Even in the grooming shop we do not use shampoo on the cats head- that is just wiped with a wet washcloth.

I've been meaning to update- I received my Eye Envy and I am sold on this product. It lessened the amount of staining on Rochester's face after only one application. I used to have to clean his eyes at least twice a day or red gunk would crust up and now I can even skip a day.
Eye Envy works!

I've bathed my cats with Johnson Baby Shampoo for many many years and they've never had a problem. Even my vet said that it's fine to use on them.

i may need to try this stuff...Pixel has these ugly brown stains under her eyes. they weren't as bad when Mouse was around - i think because Mouse washed them! but Pixel doesn't like me to mess with them, & although she'll let me scratch off the dried on gunk, i can't get it all. i have some boric acid pads, but she doesn't like them, & they really don't do too good of a job anyway, IMO.

So go for it.

Me? I choose not to.
I've been grooming for 33 years and would never use any shampoo even remotely close enough to a cats eye to affect eye staining.

I think you would really be impressed with the Eye Envy. As a groomer we have been searching for the holy grail of stain removers since before electricity was invented, and this stuff might actually be it.

Eye envy is fabulous!! I have a white persian with very runny eyes and this stuff works miracles. If it is really bad the first couple times you use it you need to really cake on the powder and make sure you get all the crusties off before applying by using a soft tooth brush and some of the solution.

You will be amazed at the results!
