I noticed the bump two to three weeks ago. I believe he has scratched at it now for the second time so it is bloody and scabbed. I thought it was a spider bite but it still hasn't gone away. Any idea what this could be!? I have attached a picture.

It's hard to tell from a picture, it could be a foreign body in there, it could be a tumor, could be an infection, I would recommend a Vet visit to get to the bottom of it.

Given it's close proximity to the eye and the fact that it has not gone away, I think its worth a trip to the vet to take a look. They will be able to help you determine what it is. I would not try to clip it or stab it with a needle!

Do not, under any circumstances, try to lance or treat this yourself, especially if you have no medical training. Please take your cat to a vet. We cannot diagnose or give medical advice in this forum.

If you care about your cat, which you obviously do, get him or her to a vet as soon as possible. Your cat has had this for more than 2 weeks and it is not going away. It looks bad in the pic as well. Why try to treat something that you don't know what it is? It could make it worse. And for goodness sakes, NEVER cut your cats skin, as someone suggested.

Yes, I agree, pleas get to the vet as soon as you can! To be open like that & so close to the eye is not good!

If/when you take your cat to the vet and get a diagnosis, please tell us what it was.

Thanks,

Could definitely be some kind of spider bite, given that cats like to crawl into crevices and small spaces. If so, could be a bite from a recluse spider or some other kind where the wound doesn't heal but continues to erode around the bite. And if you live where it's winter, that's when the bugs come inside. And that's not something you can take care of yourself. It looks awful, and painful.

Whatever the cause, it's really close to both eye and ear. If this was my cat, I'd bring him to the vet ASAP. Please let us know what the vet say, yes. Remember, the more it spreads, the more expensive the treatment will be.

Vet. Vet. Vet. As my late dad would have said
'Immediately if not sooner'. Obey and keep us :vibes:informed.
