Hi guys,

I need your help... now that I have about 10 diff types of wet cat food in my fridge opened but not used...

My cat Luna, who is 1 year old (we got her 3 months ago), has been eating Science diet wet cat food (the chunky kind for kittens) and a small portion of dry food as well. Not that she is no longer a kitten (and admittedly, kind of getting a little too big ), I've been trying to change her food. She is always ravenous so I wanted to find something more natural and higher in protein.

This week I've tried giving her a variety of brands -- Wellness (regular and signature selects), Nature's Recipes, Blue Buffalo and Natural Choice. She's hated them all. Every single one she's turned her nose up and tries to bury it.  I've even tried giving her the adult version of the science diet cat food she loves and she won't eat it. Another factor is that she hates minced food.. only prefers chunky.

What do I do now? Are there any other brands very similar to Science diet that wont break the bank but will fill her up more? Or do I just give up? I can't keep giving her such high calorie food...

I think one mistake you may be making is trying to give her a new food 'cold turkey'.  With wet food, just like with dry, you should begin by mixing a tiny tiny bit of the new wet food with the old wet food.  To minimize how much is wasted, you can store the new wet food in the fridge between feedings.  Begin with just one tiny spoonful of the new food thoroughly mixed into the old food.  Then, over several days, mix a little more in each time until it is 50% new food and 50% old food.  From there, slowly, slowly increase the amount further.

It is honestly probably best to commit to which new food you want her to eat and then, again, very slowly introduce that food instead of trying so many.

Hopefully this will work, but if not I am sure other members will have suggestions for you.

Good luck
