Hey guys,

This is SIssy,

I found her in the parking lot 2 months ago... She was no bigger that a cigarette pack. I got her to the vet and he told me that she's a common race. On the net i found lots of pictures that led me into thinking that she might be a Russian Blue. Can you help me out and set this straight once and for all please? :)

She's a cutie ( blue & white kitties), but she is definitely not a Russian Blue. She's a blue & white DSH (domestic shorthair). According to the breed standard, a Russian Blue cannot have any white at all and must have green eyes. Your kitty's face is also too round for a Russian Blue. The only thing I see in your kitty that is similar to a Russian Blue are the ears.

I agree with Goldy Cat.  That said, I do understand your question.  There is something vaguely resembling a RB in her...

Yes, there is.

If it is pure coincidence, or she had, say,  a grandfather who was a  RB stud allowed to go out, we cant know.  And we really doesnt need to know, she is a prettie in her own right.

Besides, with cats the race / breed is really  what their ancestry is, proven by suitable papers or at very least, good evidences.

What a cat happens to be somewhat look alike is NOT = breed.

So, if you see in a cat book a cat labelled Russian blue, he is there not because he happens to look alike, but because he IS a russian blue, with papers and everything.  That is why they say purebred.

On internet it is more unsure, as everybody can publish anything they fancy and often do.

Be happy with your prettie!

Good luck!.

She sure is a pretty kitten!     She is certainly not a pedigree RB.   and I doubt she has any big amount of RB in her,  though that's impossible to know.   I could imagine a cat who was 1/2 or 1/4 RB looking like that , because of the light blue shade with what does appear to be silver tips --  but RBs are really more rare than many people realize.  so the likelihood there was some intact RB running around breeding with moggies  is not very high.   and there are a lot more   blue Domestic Shorthairs,  some of whom do have silver tipped coats.

She really is beautiful .  very delicate looking.

She is a very pretty girl,  but not Russian Blue I'm afraid as they must be self coloured (as are Russian Whites and Blacks).  She looks lovely, and if she has the purrsonality to go with her looks she is going to have everyone round her little toes the minute they meet her.  I look forward to seeing more pictures of her around the site.  I think I've only seen one grey and white cat and he was a friend of mine's childhood cat, beautiful and much loved!

How nice of you to show us the result as adult!

Do I see correctly, the eyes become greenish, but the fur is almost black now?  Or its just the light on the photo?

Russians are slender (unless they do have "excellent appetite", so although the greenish eyes, the impression of being russianish  is lesser now than when she was a kitten.

But she is a very nice domestic!!!    Also apparently enjoying to live with you in your home you do share.
