For the last three days, my eight-month-old kitten has been puking up most of his meals.  He mainly eats canned food, with some nibbling at the dry food left for the other cat.  None of the foods have changed recently.  He's always been a speed-eater, and his favorite time to go wild and play is right after wolfing down his food.  Yet, he's never had a vomiting issue until this weekend.  He'll scarf down a 3.5-ounce can of his wet food in the morning and be fine for the next two hours or so.  Then, he'll puke up what looks like the whole meal.  The cycle then repeats in the evening.  He has no loss of energy and he seems well-hydrated.  I've eliminated playing after meals to make sure that's not upsetting him, but it doesn't seem to help.  The only variable I can identify is that he had been on an antibiotic (for stool issues, which have cleared up).  He had a terrible time taking the pill, and the first instance of puking occurred right after a particularly long struggle trying to get him to take one of the last two pills.  He had been on that antibiotic for five days with no issue.

I'll talk to my vet, but I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas.

Is it possible that he ate a non-food item that is causing an obstruction? Vomiting up most of his meals is definitely not normal, even on antibiotics. Has he kept any meal down in the last 3 days? If not, he needs to see the vet. He is at danger from not only dehydration but also fatty liver disease.

Thanks vball,
I did make an appointment to bring him in today. This started on Friday night and he hasn't held down a full meal since then. Like I said, he is fine until about two hours after eating. Hope he'll be ok.

Many vibes that it is nothing serious and he recovers quickly. Please let us know what the vet says.

It could very well be a food allergy or intolerance to the food, even though the food hasn't changed.  It could be the manufacturer has changed the ingredients or something like that.  I would talk to the vet about putting him on a limited ingredient diet and seeing if that helps his tummy calm down.

He's on a rotation of canned foods--mainly Merrick with & a couple Fancy Feast varieties, all different proteins--and he's throwing them all up.  The blockage idea makes sense to me--even though it's scary-- since he's fine for a few hours until something gets triggered, and then he's fine right afterward and wants to eat the same food.  Going to the vet in a couple hours, so I'll post an update.

Stewey has been puke-free since his vet visit.  Fingers crossed!  There was some intestinal swelling, but no blockage.  The vet sent him home with shots of an antibiotic, and antiflamitory, a painkiller and fluids and vitamins.  Since then he's been able to eat two meals and keep them both down.  He was going absolutely berserk the entire night with his cat toys, meaning something from that cocktail of shots made him feel a lot better!
