My cat has an eating disorder. He is obsessed with food and has been since a kitten. He is on a diet.

Tonight I noticed he was constipated so I gave him laxatone for supper with 1/4th his meal. He threw it all up, including a wrapped up piece of paper. When I unwrapped it, it was 2 inches long by 2 inches wide.  Not sure how he got it down, or how he got it back out!  Although I suppose if he can throw up hairballs, a wrapper isn't a problem.

Due to his obsession with food, I am assuming it is a food wrapper.  He raids the trash can if he can, he steals out of cabinets and the bread basket.

I try the best I can, but my parents aren't as careful about keeping food locked up.

He threw up a second time, at the same time as pooping. At least he had a bowel movement.  I'm concerned he may have more paper in him.

I gave him miralax with chicken broth and he kept that down. I'm keeping a close eye on him. Hope he got all the paper out and he doesn't get sick!

An X ray won't help- paper doesn't normally show up on X rays unless he is blocked.  If he throws up tomorrow, I will take him to the vet.

Anyone else have a cat like this?  Last time he did this he ate a 2 inch long rubber band!

I'm starting to think he needs his own room away from the rest of the house, where there is no food!

Try to cat proof your house, meaning pick up all objects that cats may eat and put in baby locked drawers. Talk to your parents about leaving stuff around, saying that it's hazardous to your cat.

I don't think paper should be that harmful... wouldn't it just dissolve? Unless it's like wax paper or something.

wow, your Kitty sounds like a human tot; you have to tot – proof your house, because a human baby will try to get into everything and eat anything. So your kitten sounds just like one. My Also tries to eat all the newspapers, tear them up, and also likes to tear up and eat all my fashion magazines; and she's three years old! So yes, they're just like tiny little kids, you do have to save proof your house. I think they will survive through it, as long as they don't eat anything worse than paper.

My cat eats paper whenever he can find some!  It is a disorder called "Pica".  Google it.  You just have to be extra diligent about keeping paper and other things off the floor.  Be very careful that he doesn't have access to plastic wrappers or rubber bands!

I have a cat who chews/spits out/ possibly eats any type of cardboard she can find.  I hope by now your kitty is doing better and not throwing up any more.
