Hi all!

I am new to this site, and glad to be here.  My username is Neko 0 Takusan, which Neko is Japanese for Cat and Takusan is many. We have lots of cats right now.

To start, we have two lovely female rescue cats of our own from the local spca.  One is a small female tuxedo cat, 'Luna', who was a rescue from a hoarding situation, and has eye issues and needs eye drops for the rest of her life.  Lucky for us, other people shied away from that so she got to be ours.  She is really sweet.  Our second cat is 'Pria', a small black short hair female, also a rescue.  When we met her, she would both growl and purr while wanting us to pet her.  She is now totally comfortable at home, and very addicted to the laser pointer game.

I came here originally looking for info on socializing feral cats.  We moved into an apartment with a view and discovered a feral cat population living in the woods next to our building and the neighboring street.  There was a group of 5-8 kittens (approx. 5 mos old) living outside and under our balcony that had previously been fed by a tenant who moved away.  Not wanting to leave them out there to suffer through the coming cold winter, we contacted a local cat rescue organization and borrowed a live trap to catch them.  We have now caught five of the kittens (now approx. 7 months old) and are socializing them to get them adopted into loving forever homes.  Happily, we had our first adoption yesterday.    We know it can be a long process, and they need patience and understanding.

Hopefully through this site, I can get some tips and tricks to help us make this process happen easily and not too slowly....(our two cats are not that happy with the extra company sharing their humans.)  The young ones are not totally feral as they had humans feed them since birth.  They are just not  used to indoor life with us, and the newest two are a bit scared of us.

These are pictures of Frodo and Abby  on the couch, and our newest two Gandalf (grey and white) and Ginny (orange and white).  We thought Gandalf was a boy and Ginny a girl, but were mistaken.  They are the reverse, so now we need a girls name that sounds like Gandalf, and a boys name like Ginny.... we're working on it...
