We got two stray kittens, one male and the other female. We have estimated their ages to be about 2 months. Both have been healthy and normal until an hour ago. This is what happened to the male (in chronological order):
- he was playing with a piece of paper
-he sat still for a few minutes
-he spazzes out completely
-he runs around the room and basically ricochets off walls and chairs
-he stops and looks for places to hide
-he refuses to acknowledge me or my family and sprints away when approached
-a few minutes later, her has another "panic attack"
- this time, he runs so hard against a chair leg that he falls over
- he stops breathing for one scary moment; he is limp, does not resist, and his eyes close; my mom shakes him a bit and he starts breathing again

We couldn't let him run and hurt himself anymore so we wrapped him up in a towel and basically pinned him to the floor (he would not be held). It was then that we noticed he had left urine almost everywhere he went. We assumed that it might have been out of fear.

We sat with him for about thirty minutes, waiting for his fear to subside. It did not. I could feel tiny little spasms under the blanket as he tried to escape. I called an emergency room and the girl on the phone told us it might be a cat seizure. I looked up videos on YouTube and descriptions. None matched what had just happened. He didn't simply fall to his side and convulse, he bounced off walls and knocked himself out.

Here's the odd thing: he is okay as long as he's hidden from us.
Just so he could be away from us and so he couldn't run around and hurt himself anymore, we upturned a large cardboard box on him. The moment we did, he stopped struggling and he's been quiet since (15 minutes have passed at the typing of this).

He's normally very friendly and playful, so this was entirely unforeseen. I was terrified because I had never seen him go crazy like that. He didn't try to harm himself, didn't bite himself or his sister, just tried to escape us. We hadn't done anything odd. We were only sitting at the table having some tea when he freaked out. It was entirely out of the blue.

Has this ever happened to your cats? Do you have any idea what could have caused this? Just, what is this? What happened?

I am definitely taking him to the vet tomorrow, but please help and give me advice.

Honestly, it sounds like a seizure to me.  SO glad you're taking him to the vet tomorrow/today.  Do let us know what the vet says.
