I received this in my E-mail today, and thought this would be a great place to post this. I'm sure at one time or the other we all wondered what plants were harmful to our feline friends.
Cats and Plants
Did you know that many common houseplants can be harmful, if not deadly, to cats?

Here are just a few to avoid:
-Chrysanthemums--potted variety often given as gifts
-Crocus--spring flowering bulb
-Pothos and Ivy--common cascading greenery
-Dracaena and Philodendrons--frequently used for height in the indoor garden.

There are, however, some lovely plants that are perfectly safe for your kitty:
-African Violet--popular potted plant given as a gift
-St. Bernard's Lily--summer flowering bulb
-Boston Fern--common hanging greenery
-Bamboo Palm and Kentia Palm--popular house palms.

Thank you for alerting everyone to this! I have a few of the plants you mentioned, but I keep them away from where Merlin can get to them!

The Dracaena is also harmful to humans, anyone who has little children at the age where they put everything in their mouths, the leaves of the Dracaena, if eaten, will cause the throat to swell up, so a person can't breathe. At least that's what I've been told.
