Graham is almost 6 months I have him scheduled to be neutered Dec 9th but I was doing some reading and some say to neuter at 6 months and some say to wait until at least 8 months. I've always had my male cats done at 6 months and never had a problem. Is it healthier to wait or is 6 months ok?

I agree, six months is fine, earlier if he were to start spraying or showing unusual interest in going outdoors or female cats.
The general rule of thumb is: either two pounds of weight or two years of age (if a feral cat, these rules can be relaxed a little).

Yeah hes not showing any signs of marking and his urnine smell isn't changing yet either. You know that strong tom cat smell. He lives with 5 other cats and hes very mellow, lovey kitten. Hes gotten better with using his scratching posts. He sometimes uses the one corner of my couch so I spray it with a scratching deterrent spray every few days and it has been working. Hes really good at letting me cut his nails so that has helped I do them every week even if its just to take the tips off.

I think this thing about waiting longer to alter cats is leeching over from dogs.  There is very good evidence that dogs, particularly large breed dogs, have a lower risk of some health issues if they are altered later.  There is no such evidence for cats.

I'm sure you really meant to type 2 months!    ( I guess that  should be clear since you said 2 pounds ....  but I  just don't want anyone who may read this to think they need to wait 2 years to get a cat neutered! )

& I agree,  6 months would be fine.
