Yes, you shall definitely distance them. 1. because he is unfriendly. 2. there is clearly danger of her becoming preg again, as latest soon after deliver

, but not impossible even while still pregnant.   It does happens  cats do have two different litters simultaneously.

Breeders do seldom see this, because they can control the matings, but "common people"  may meet it.

It is not impossible his aggessive behavior here is really he trying to mate her, but she by any reason not really willing.

Some toms are nice at courting, some arent nice.

Dont think twice, do separate them.

What you SHALL think twice about, is to perhaps simply neuter and spay them, beginning with the tom.

Unless you are breeders, of course!

Good luck!

I have a pregnant feral and have been doing a lot of reading lately and I read that tom cats will sometimes harm the baby kittens so that the mother will grieve and it will throw her into heat. I would Definately separate them just because of that.

Thx for the advice yes I was thinking it was time for them to be seperated now that she's pregnant and he's still being as agressive as he was whileen she was in heat. But his owner is getting him fixed I have no intention on having my female fixed.Do you think he's doing this because she's pregnant and if they stay around each other will his being agressive towards her during pregnancy effect the kittens before birth

Thrue.  Good point, Brooke.   The danger is lesser with home cats, but not nonexistent.

If the tom and mom are good friends the danger is almost nil, the tom often even helping mom. But I wouldnt never risk anything if they arent good friends.  At least, not withouth good supervision at first, till Im sure the tom accepts the kittens.

Do separate them, the female does not need that extra stress while she is pregnant, apart from the danger to the kittens. It is good he is being fixed. Is there any special reason why you do not want to get your cat fixed after the kittens are weaned? It would be better for her health.

Umm its just personal preference really I've had her for about 2years n I never thought about having her fixed and I also wanted her to have a litter first so maybe after she drops this first litter I'll reconsider that option

Thx everyone for your help I will be making arrangments to seperate my pregnant cat from my sister aggressive cat. I never thought I'd have to seperate them the fact that he's always been aggressive towards her I thought would change now that he impregnated her but I guess not

No, he will want to mate with her as soon as possible. He does not realise the kittens are his and he could harm them after they are born, though not all male cats do this and once he is neutered it will be less likely.

AS for spaying, I do not want to hijack the thread but I strongly suggest you read these links:

http://www.thecatsite.com/a/spay-and-neuter-your-cats

http://www.thecatsite.com/t/96928/no-spay-until-after-first-heat

There are many more articles and threads you can search for, showing why it better for your cat's health to spay her as soon as possible.
If you want to open a separate thread asking for information on spaying there will be many people who will explain all the implications of not spaying.

Good luck, keep us posted!

And by the way,  a male cat  can still impregnate a female for up to 7 weeks after being neutered,  if he still had sperm in the tubes.!     I knew they were still fertile a while  ( and I know a cat who fathered kittens after he was neutered a week before)  but  I found that info on the website of one of the top vet schools in the US.  that it can actually be as long as 7 weeks that the sperm he has left are still OK.

So even after he is neutered you need to keep him separate from her to make sure he doesn't mate with her again.  If she would get pregnant again right away , it is not good for her or the kittens.

&  I agree,  right now she does not need to be stressed by being around a cat who is acting aggressive.

Sometimes while pregnant  a cat can actually have some symptoms like she is in heat.  or may not act that way,  but there might be a smell the male notices and it is making him go after her.
