Why does Precious' weight seem to vary so much?

Hey everyone. It seems like Precious' weight varies a lot to me. Sometimes she seems like she is overweight because her waist will appear bigger and other times it looks more sunken in like she has lost weight. I don't have a scale I can weigh her on so I don't know if her weight is varying or not.

She is a pretty healthy cat. The only chronic health issue she has is ear allergies. She does get colds every now and then but she always gets over them without needing to see a veterinarian.

Do  you have a scale you can weight yourself on?  If so, you can weigh yourself, then pick her up and weigh the two of you, then subtract your weight from that to get a rough idea of what she weighs.  Otherwise, does she feel heavier at times when you pick her up.  Are you monitoring her food intake?

Well, I do have a scale that I can weigh myself on. I might try weighing her sometime and see how much she weighs. The vet said she weighed about 9 lbs approximately 1 year ago.

And yes, I do monitor her food intake. She gets 1 can of cat Friskies cat food per day plus as much dry food (Purina Cat Chow) as she wants in between times.

After you weigh her a few times, if it appears her weight is fluctuating, try not feeding her as much as she wants of the dry food.  You may need to offer her a specific amount only in order to keep her weight steady
