No, although endometriosis is another risk factor for endometrial hyperplasia. This condition is just the abnormal thickening of the uterus walls due to too much estrogen. As far as I know (at least for me), it doesn't cause any pain. My symptoms were suddenly irregular periods and occasionally bloody discharge. Besides that, no symptoms. But you need to treat it and keep an eye on it because it is a precursor to uterine cancer.

Oh man I just googled your conditions and now I feel bad for complaining about what I have :( Your conditions sound awful. And your poor son. How manageable are they?
ok lets try this again. There is nothing they can do about nf besides cut out the tumors. I check Arlo over twice a month for any signs of tumor growths or new spots. He also is learning delayed, and has some kind of gastro issue that is not dignosed. He bloats very badly. My biggest fear is for him to get a tumor in the wrong spot and it cause serious problems. Also if he gets any external tumors if he will be teased. He is the whole reason I found out I have it. I have 23 cafe au lait spots. I always thought they were scars from tape. Well he started getting the spots. I looked up causes. Found nf. Many of the symptoms fit me so I asked for the dna test. It came back positive. I also have some learning issues. I cant do math to save my live, spelling and grammer are horid. But my verbal reasoning is a iq score of 119. So with my weakness comes strength. We both have large head. When he was born his head was 15 inches around. My other bio son has epilepsy but not nf. Both have already had surgery. (Arlo the youngest was 1 year 2 months old. Zay my oldest bio was 6) he only started having seizures aug 2012. He had his first at the top of the stairs. I was so scared. We always have dr apointments. Arlo has also been hospitalized 2 times. Thankful Xzaviers condition can be treated. I worry about my tumors becoming cancerous because my birth grandmother died of cancerous brain tumors. (I was adopted at birth but in touch with bio family. Got in contact when I was 22 so we never thought to think about tumor growths).

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism last week. Going to see an endocrinologist tomorrow. I am quite scared because I heard I may need to take medication for the rest of my life, and I'm only 26. :(
I was diagnosed with hypothyrodisim at 29 and have been on medication ever since.  To be truthful, I realize now I had it all my life but it went unnoticed.  I am far better off with the medication.

I found out that my grandmother, several cousins and several aunts and uncles had thyroid issues.  I look at it this way - in this arena, science has accomplished so much.  My cousin (now in his late 70s) told me he had to take ground up pig thyroid and they could never get the dosage right.

I hope your appointment went well.

15 inches is big? haha I have no idea about babies. What is it meant to be?

That all sounds really tough, I'm sorry. Your sons are really cute and I love their names, especially Arlo.

I know it stinks to have to take medicine for the rest of your life.. I wish I had Hyperthyroid (or even Hypo) instead of Thyroid Cancer (and I am 32, 31 when I discovered this). which leads to my health issue.. the Thyroid Cancer. I had my thyroid removed a year ago, and on Synthroid since then. I feel so much better on Synthroid! I have to go in March for another scan to make sure I am completely free of Cancer before claiming full victory.

Draco:  If it is not medullary cancer, it shouldn't spread.

My grandmother had non-medullary, had her thyroid removed and lived another 60 years.  I had thyroid cancer too, October 2011.  Fortunately, mine was non-medullary too.

And I feel lots better on Synthroid  too.

it means his head was bigger than 95% of other babies. (95th percentile) he is now past the 97th percentile. So he has a realy big head.
Ty very much. Arlo is my fathers name.while things are tough it could be much worse. Some of the stuff other people have posted I dont think I could handle. Like chronic hives. I would go bonkers. This is what the cdc says on baby heads. (For some reason it posted in your part of the quote)

Thanks. The doctor is putting me on antithyroid medication, he says I need to be on it for about a year and there's a 50% chance it'll go into remission, which is the best case. I refused to take radioactive iodine. I'm thinking of getting a second opinion though. I didn't get a good vibe from him, and all he did was ask me a few questions and feel my throat. I was expecting at least some sort of X-ray scan.

My dad had thyroid cancer, and also had his thyroid removed. He's completely fine now, except that he has to take meds for the rest of his life. I know people can live healthy and normal lives, but it just really sucks to have to take pills every day forever.

Nothing really serious, thank goodness.

I do get bad migraines from time to time. I swear by turmeric capsules to keep the migraines from attacking full-strength.

Bad knees

4 herniated disks in my lower back, but as long as I can walk, I can keep the pain at bay

High blood pressure, but again, as long as I can walk, I can keep it down to a low roar

Just diagnosed with TMJ disorder

Overall, I'm thankful that I'm not doing too badly!
Are we related?

Same here.  I've had migraines since my teens.  Luckily with medication and age, they have gotten much better in the past couple of years.  I'm currently doing so well that I've been weaning off the daily meds for nearly a year now (one of which was an anti-seizure medication that is used off label - you can't just stop it suddenly).  Still take sumatriptin when needed (Imitrex).

Knees? Ugh.  Been dealing with my 2nd torn meniscus in my right knee since the summer.  Had surgery for same thing about 13 years ago, and also on my left knee about 8 years ago.  There's arthritis in them now and with the new tear it's been difficult getting around to say the least.  However, just as I was about to schedule arthroscopic surgery to clean it out - it seemed to calm down enough for me to more or less function.  So, I'm holding off as long as possible.  I take Celebrex which seems to help.

Also been having a pretty bad foot problem but as long as I wear sneakers that is bearable.  Seems I supinate the foot, which puts weight on the outside of it causing pain.  I suspect my knees have a lot to do with it; since I'm not walking well from that and it's throwing me off balance for sure.

Other than those two things - I'm doing ok.  Nothing else is anything to worry or complain about.  OK complain maybe a little ROFL.

We must be related!!

My migraines started when I hit puberty (around 6th grade or so) and lasted til I gave birth to our son at 16. Then, for the most part, they dissipated. Until I hit 40, then they came back with a vengeance. Now I have the aura before the migraine hits. Although, I really have to say that I started taking turmeric capsules back around mid-October or so.....and I've not had a full-blown headache since! *knock on wood*

As for the knee problem, mine was meniscus-related, too. Had a bad tear in the meniscus that had to be repaired (well, shaved really, since they don't actually repair meniscus tears per se). That was 3 years ago and I'm still having trouble from time to time, usually if I overdo my walking, then it really starts to pain for awhile. I started using Traumeel ointment on my knee and I'm amazed at how much better it feels. That stuff is amazing. And I take triple-strength Osteo-BiFlex twice a day. Doctor says there is no arthritis in either knee.

Two meniscus tears? OMGosh, just shoot me now!

i said the other day i had endometrial hyperplasia...well i went to another doctor for a second opinion and she said given my age i probably don't!! now i need to get my hormone and thyroid checked to find out what's going on...waah...i'm sick of not having answers.

those of you with thyroid problems, what were your symptoms? did it ever affect your period? (sorry if i'm erroneous in assuming you're women)

Hi peaches

I was feeling very tired all the time. I passed it off because I started two jobs and thought I was tired from that. Then I started bleeding from a nipple. That's when i sought medical help. Doctors and breast surgeons and MRI and mammograms and CAT scans.. And lots of bloodwork..Only to have a different family doctor to feel my neck and told me to get a sonogram when he noticed my thyroid levels were low.

The bloody discharge stopped right after surgery. Glad it was only thyroid cancer and not the other scary one.

Thanks Draco! I know that thyroid cancer tends to have some vague signs, but I'm calling my doctor tomorrow to get an appointment. My mom had thyroid cancer at my age, and for whatever reason thyroid cancer is increasing in prevalence. I haven't had blood work done in years so it needs to be done anyway. ;)
