Quick recap, he was declawed before I adopted him (some time in the past, don't know when as he was a stray), and he had two claws growing back that were causing him pain and we had to have them removed, about 2 weeks ago.

He's not limping at all now, and doesn't hold a front paw up while he's sitting. He jumps up and down from things and doesn't hold up a paw after landing. He's getting around as normally as a cat with his poor toes amputated can, and doesn't act like he's in any pain. He's also a lot more active and is eating more, too. His coat is back to looking how it did in his original pictures from the shelter, before he got sick. I'll get some new pics soon!

Glad to hear his surgery went well! Sounds like he's much happier for it.

This is great news!!!
I'm so glad to hear Burlington is much happier.

It's times like these that really make you feel good about taking the necessary steps to help a kitty.  Thank you for being such a good parent.

Great news. Here's to Burlington staying healthy and no more nasty sore paws.  Good to hear his fur's looking good and he's active and eating well.  Look forward to seeing pictures of the hansdome fellow looking goooood.

Oh my, this is lovely to see.
You would never recognise him as the same cat if you were't told!  I looked at the sad Burlington photo you uploaded 2 weeks ago when you posted about his paws, and then came back to look at him here.  He is one special cat, and I am sure he is very very happy that he has found a furever home with you.   He looks magnificent here, well done you.

Do you know when you will have more news about his eye?

Thanks. And yeah, the BF if quite clever with stuff! He's very handy and good at building things. We looked at cat trees, but didn't feel any of them were sturdy enough. Trevor is 16+ pounds and Burlington is 10+. We only had Trevor when he built it, but he wanted to be sure it couldn't be tipped over, and that it was tall enough to let him stretch fully when he scratched, and that the platforms were big enough for him to stretch out to sleep (he usually sleeps flopped on his back, all sprawled out). The materials cost about $60 and it took him probably about 3 hours to build. I'd say we got a way better deal than any of the store-bought ones. Plus we can add on to it any time we want. He wants to put a little house on it, and maybe add another platform since Burlington likes to jump and be up high.

I am going to have his eye seen once I get things straightened out with work. There was an incident last week that caused me to quit the factory (the short story is they cheated me out of 2 weeks of paid vacation time, which was kinda the final straw in a long list of things that have been making me angry about the place) so all I have at the moment is part time cashier at Walmart. But I am being interviewed soon (I will know when tonight) for a management position that is full time. If I get that, then I have no worries and will get him in soon to have it looked at. Otherwise I need to find another part time job as just the cashier gig doesn't pay all my bills! I know the eye isn't bothering him at the moment, so it's not an emergency, and honestly it probably IS nothing, but I'd feel better knowing he's had a thorough exam by a competent vet before being told that.

Last night I posted that picture and an update on the shelter's FB page and this girl replied saying he used to be her cat. Apparently, her mother made the decision to have him declawed, as an adult, despite the protests of this girl and her step brother, and from what I can see on her FB page, they just recently moved to the town where I adopted him, and she says a friend took him to the shelter. So either the friend dumped him and someone found him and took him, or that person lied and said they found him.

Hmmm, well however he ended up at that shelter, I'm glad it was you who adopted him. He lucked out for sure! Good to see him looking so fine and handsome. :)
And that's an awesome cat tree, way better that what they sell in the pet stores.
